If the 10k tomorrow turns out like this one with a big group together at the end, Kemboi will win. She has the best kick in that field
Yeah.
I was sure hoping this was going to be Chmiel’s year for the 10k, but it’s not looking like it.
Chelangat, Olemomoi and Kemboi have just showed far too much superiority, time after time.
Then you throw in Utah’s Venters in with her 31:48 speed this season and rise to stardom, and there are some amazing women up there in the top-4.
Still hoping Chmiel pulls it out though. #2 ACC in Cross Country behind Tuohy and #3 NCAA behind Tuohy and Valby in Cross Country. I just believe she HAS it, just has to put it together.
I'm not picking Chmiel to win, but she'll be in the hunt. Has ran smart and looked good in recent races and most importantly not injured. It's too easy to look at season time list, when Chmiel's been coasting. For outdoor you only need to be top 96 to qualify, instead of top 16 in indoor, so no need to go all out. It's like judging Touhy as a 15:50 5k runner. Chmiel will certainly stick her nose in and compete. Hays was all-american in Austin for Columbia in 2019 as a freshman, tomorrow is her last NCAA race. I think you'll see a good run from her too.
Chmiel historically does much better in XC and also struggles somewhat on the track in slower races. I hope she does well tonight but I would not bet on her being in top 4, maybe top 6.

Yeah, based on what I put above, I’m thinking 5th or 6th. With an outside chance to win it all.
Anyone else think Tuohy looked a little stressed in that press conference
Quite frankly, it was hard to tell. With it being so LOUD in that room with whatever ambient noise that was, etc., she may have actually just been annoyed with the situation.
Wish we had better coverage of that press conference somewhere or a personal interview.
Plourde is out of 1500 watch for 5000 . Note pace of heat 2
Just as I thought. 3:05 at 1100m and EVERYONE was there. And 6 of them had the speed to come through the final 400m in 64, pretty much without having to REALLY push it. 4:09’s 4:10’s.
Tuohy 4th in heat amongst all the tangling (ie: Mia Barnett, going from the lead to last. She should definitely put a case in for being able to toe the line in the final).
Tuohy does NOT have the speed to hang with those women in that final lap unless she’s a STRONG 2 to 4 seconds ahead at 1100m.
i suggested it previously and got lambasted. tuohey is simply a poor racer. she is not winning this unless she stops being so lazy at the start. she needs to frontrun from the start. and that will take a bit of speed in the first 30 meters or so.
really, she should be better tactically at this point.

Jepkirui just closed that slow 4:17 in a 61 second final 400m.
