yes,but you must admit vaporfly shoes, and super fast tracks are making a big difference.a 1.53 flat today would be the same as a 1.55 with the slower tracks/normal spikes of the 80s.
Well if you think 1:55 is the clean WR, then get ready for another WR. Athing ran as hard 85-90 percent to win her Gold medal. It WAS NOT a jog for her but it was not all out. Unlike Pamela Jelimo who laid it all on the line for her Olympic RACE and got gold,cAthing was going to be happy with anything but Gold so she ran as hard for it without chancing blowing up. She no doubt was capable of at best after the rounds 1:54.7.
Hopefully with better conditions and pacing in at least 2 more races we will see her true 2021 potential.

Rudisha ran the same way London in 2012. He never ran any faster. Nothing is guaranteed or inevitable in sport - despite your patent hero-worship of Mu.
Rudisha went out at WR pace and even told his countryman not to follow him for fear of the youngster blowing up. Athing went out in 57 point and came back with a negative spilt...Rudisha did not negative spilt his WR/PB.

Nothing to support such claims. Old heads with no data to back up claims popping off wishing they had ran faster in their day. Comical really.

Mondo, the maker of the Tokyo track surface claims 1-2% speed advantage over regular tracks. The Dragonfly spikes are claimed to be up to 1 sec per lap faster than normal spikes.

A claim is effectively marketing
Show us some definitive independent studies or shut that sh*t up.

She ran virtually even-paced, bar a few tenths of a second margin between the two laps. Ryun set a wr with a bigger negative split. If she had set out at wr pace she would probably have blown up. She is like a 1.43x male runner that you think will beat Rudisha's record. There are quite a few of them - and they haven't got close. It is mere conjecture that she will take the wr - there is nothing inevitable about it.
You act like you discovered Athing Mu. You are obsessed with her. Settle down and let her do her thing. She will do what she does.
What a stupid comment. VIPAM thinks there is more to come from Athing Mu and he (she?) gives good reasons for this. Why should he (she?) not post it?
VIPAM is not saying that, but making a much stronger claim, that it is inevitable that Mu will break the wr. That prediction isn't a fact; it is only speculation.
where is sydney mclaughlin's black screen? is it because she is bi-racial? what a bloody racist site this is.
I think you got confused which woman is the subject of this thread.
I can understand why, as they look virtually identical and run the same race.
I am not confused. Don't be silly. I decided to make that post in as many threads as possible so that the bigoted owners bojo/rojo/mojo can see at least one person is on to them.
Why is it a shock that Bobby Kersee thinks Athing Mu has a shot at 800/1500m double at the Olympics? I have been stressing the same thing for over 2 years against many posters who think she can't be world class at 1500m. Athing Mu was a sub 5 minute miler INDOORS her Junior year in high school and only ran 2 mile races

Bobby Kersee doesn't actually think that Athing Mu can win the Olympics in the 1500. He's just a big mouth that likes to hear himself talk and wants to get attention for himself.
And you're a sucker for believing that Bobby Kersee really thinks that.

Yes you are crazy. I knew when she ran sub 5 minutes for the mike her Junior year in high school she could be a world class 1500m or when she attempted the 200, 400m, 800, and 1500m quadruple at AAU at age 14. Winning 3 and placing 2nd in one.
How many high school female milers never break sub 5 minutes in high school but remain 1500/milers? Athing Mu did it her Junior year in just 2 races.
The world will see Athing Mu will be a world class 1500m runner in her career. One that certainly will run AT LEAST sub 4 minutes for 1500m, how far under the barrier I don't know but certainly capable of sub 4 minutes.

Mu has a 4:33 1500 from 2017. This is most likely from AAU in the summer right after her freshman year. She also has a 18:30 5k XC time on a difficult course inNJ. This also appears to be AAU since she didn’t run for her high school. That’s quite a range and I doubt she ran very much mileage. Definitely has potential in the 1500 in the future if she makes that a goal.
