“I think that Judge Cannon is intellectually out of her league and is having some weird analysis paralysis because her personal partisanship makes her place Trump’s bizarre arguments (like that nuclear secrets are his personal records) on par with Smith’s *actual* legal arguments. She’s afraid of making any mistake, lest Smith have a basis to appeal and perhaps get her removed, and so in this lost, ineffective, and paranoid state, the best she can hope for is that Trump gets elected and the case just goes away. So that’s her play.”

I think Analysis Paralysis is a good take.

Cannon essentially doesn’t take hard stands on anything. (This is a Judges job). She doesn’t hit her deadlines. She is clueless on the CEPA stuff. She makes rulings then admits they need to be amended after Jack Smith gives her a legal beatdown with case law and precedent. She writes her positions in a childish way where she grants the governments positions but feels the need to childishly justify and even scold the government.

I still hold out hope that the delays are not deliberate and that she is just overwhelmed with analysis to where she can't really think things through. There are some things that show she is just in over her depth: the stuff you mentioned, plus (1) that ridiculous "homework assignment" regarding jury instructions that, as far as I can tell, never went anywhere, (2) that other ridiculous errand she sent the prosecution on about where grand juries can be located, and (3) the dispositive motion rulings she claims to have worked so hard on in the recent order, are hardly rulings at all - they are like 3 page canned orders basically saying nothing more than that the motion is denied for now. She has barely ruled on any of the issues in the case, despite have months to do so, and a full record to do it on. That's why these delays seem deliberate, but we can hope it really is just that she's overwhelmed with the case.

She has this ridiculous secret docket where she determines what gets to the public. . And then she made this ridiculous ruling that both the defense and govt need to get together and agree on what needs to be redacted on each filing. WTF?

Defense and Prosecution don’t agree on stuff. Especially when the defense would like this case delayed until 2035.
