No running as of late. Accumulated 220+ bike miles over the last 9 days for what it's worth. Hot muggy weather is all the disinclination needed to give the my running shoes and legs a rest.
apologies for my absence.....letting the lazy days of summer affect my DYRT duties.....let's catch up, shall we?.....did the planned 45' on Thursday.....first time that long in a while.....tried a new route on Saturday that ended up being a relatively "fast" 41'....back to the usual route for another 45' on Monday....jumped up to 50' today, albeit at a somewhat slower pace (is that possible?) to give myself a little mental bargaining chip to compensate for the increase in minutes....all runs finished at the beach for a cooling dip....no problems to report....looking forward to seeing what Friday brings...
....so another 50' on Friday.....had a busy non-running day on Saturday doing 7 miles on the bike with the bride and about 5 more walking around town....so the legs were tired on Sunday and I stopped the run at 34'....the beach was calling!....back on the program for Tuesday with my first 55' jaunt in some time....no issues to report....still repping the cal sleeves x 2....and finishing each run with a cooling dip in the H2O....
Thursday AM; We're abroad. 28 minute run on the banks of the Avon River in Bath. Cobblestones to get to the paved pathway adjacent to the riverside. Comfortably cool temps and lower humidity than we had at home.
Sounds nice, Bushy.....HHH here.....limited myself to 35' on Thursday due to weather and tired legs...will take a few days off and try again next week...everything else is fine....
Both the Bride and I got "lost" on our separate walk/run around the town this AM. What really was maybe a 4 mile jaunt turned into 55 minutes. Toured the Royal Cresent, the Circus, some parkways, and made my way down to the Avon to find my way back upstream to the appt. near the Abbey.
Biking on these narrow streets with the left handed traffic flow is out of the question for me, though the locals seem to handle it with reckless aplomb.
Sorry the heat bubble is on your section of the country. It was a killer in the Midwest.
Biked a relaxed 12k around Cardiff Bay. Berry picking,Sightseeing stops, etc. made it last 3 hours.
Foot tour of the UK continues. 45 minutes to top St. Andrews seat in Edinburgh. Vertigo inducing 250 metre climb into the mist at dusk. Encountered a Red Fox seeking handouts in town while the hills beyond were infested with rabbits.
100 degrees, 107 heat index, 63 degree dew point, hottish in SW MO. It was 123 degrees 15 miles SW of here--the heat index anyway. 5 miles. Felt fine.
Home from the UK. Guess I'm not sorry to have missed the rioting.
Been riding the bike again. 30 miles every other day. No running, other than the few short sprints needed to manage livestock on the farm.
Seems the lingering memories of last summer and fall's PF are enough to deflect a serious re-entry into the world of training. The bike is so easy.
I ran pretty bad today. Ran into pocket Aces with Kings preflop in a headsup cashgame. Hopefully Ill run better today
25 minutes warmup with the crew and a nice friend from the Carolinas, 3x5xhill with 60 second cycles and a few minutes rest in between sets. Hill was rough, but overall it felt as easy as a normal run. Then a mile warmdown in 8 for something near 4 total. Didn't run yesterday (took an accidentally long nap,) and so I'm taking it real easy but tripling today to amount to near 15 miles. In reality it'll probably be around 10 or 12 miles, with me hitting near 55 for the week.
Hopefully I hit 60+ this week, although I doubt it.
Took an AM jaunt up to the dirt pile and enjoyed the view across the Rib River from the top. 2.5 miles in 20 minutes.
Splendid day to ride 32 miles on the Fox River Trail. Stops included the Ledgeview Winery and Fox Harbor Pub. This running/biking thing need not be totally draconian in nature.
Ran 5K on tuesday pm. 26:13. Biked 14 miles hard on Weds. PM.
No float tubes... haven't been fishing in years. That's not saying much for a man who used to live on Brook Trout.
Washing machine is fine, but the lawn mower needed a going over. Spark plug, air filter, oil change, and sharpen the blades.( Anything to keep the kids out of mischief.)
Methinks you describe a day better than pubs and winery's can provide.
Local fun run in the AM. Posted a 22:13 for the 5K amidst the company of friends, family, and foreigners. Good enough to best the other 60+ gents.
Great way to start a beaut of a day.
O2; Thanks for the kind words. It went better than I would have expected.
Nice workout mix there, cross training has it's pluses.
Today AM; 2;30 on the road bikes. Relaxed pace with the Bride. PM; 5 miles on foot 45 minutes on a dark starlit night.
Calm and 59 F, my only company was a green blinking fire fly.
Opened Sept. "Running Times" to find a college team mate featured in the Masters column. Kudos Dave!!
AM; 4.5 miles on foot...around 45 minutes.
PM; Biked the roads for 30 miles, 19mph avg.
Balmy evening. 10PM and still 60F. Did the cul-de-sac route as a split interval. 9:57 on the way out. Stretched and recovered for 5 min., then came back hard in 8:13.
Tender is the night.
