Something about schools named Jesuit and people overhyping them before they accomplish anything.
Jesuit LA and Jesuit OR already went through their respective hype phases in previous years, and now CA is getting their shot.
And Belen Jesuit FL
Belen Jesuit was 4th at NXN. That team not overhyped and was legit very very good. Jesuit LA was overhyped in 2022 (4th at runninglane) and 2023 (8th at south region). Jesuit OR was overhyped in 2023 (7th in northwest). For me, the reason why I believe in jesuit ca is not because I am a fan. It's because the coach has a history of success but we will see what happens.
Hart and Tesoro 3rd and 4th and are looking to have the best season in school history. Oak Park not too far behind, and this is a team that wasn’t on my radar
Oak Park barely made the cut on my list at #43, and they were missing their #3 returner from last year, although they are kind of a unique team in that returning runners #2-7 have a 3200m spread of just 9 seconds. Hart's #2 returner ran the JV race. Glendora missing one of their big 4, plus a transfer who will be 5th. Millikan missing #2 and #4 Factor that all in and things went almost exactly as the projections stood. I didn't see a true Wow team or individual runner, so that's a bummer because you can't read too much from early season meets, but the interesting thing is sometimes you see some huge leaps.
Millikan will be at risk of missing out on the state meet once again if they don’t put together their full lineup. I was surprised to see last year’s #5 runner in the JV results.
Trabuco Hills is still looking solid (though maybe not as good as last year). They put 6 guys under 10 in the 2-mile at the Saddleback invite. And that doesn’t include the transfer who was their #2 guy in the alumni race. So the state meet is not out of reach for them

After NXN 2022 was over, In one of the threads, someone mentioned that Belen Jesuit would win NXN in either 2023 or Marcelo Mantecon’s senior year

Jesuit coach, Walt Lange, has been coaching since the 60s and started coaching Jesuit in 1970. He’s coached a lot of legit guys like Matt Strangio, Michael Stember, Maliester Twins, and Rich Kimball before he transferred to De La Salle. It wouldn’t be a shock Lange could create another low stick or individual state champion through Abbott, Hoferer, or Ogilvie. Maybe he can bring Jesuit another 1 or 2 state titles and NxN bids. Maybe I am overhyping Jesuit, but their hype is well-deserved.

Yeah the hype is fair. Milesplit ranked them as the lowest in terms of Jesuit schools #25 but we all know the other two Jesuit schools LA and OR would get schooled by them
woodbridge invitational updates and preseason rankings for boys d1-4 are out. Seems like some teams moved divisions like saugus (d1->d2), hart(d2->d3), and corona del mar(d3->d4). As for the woodbridge updates, it looks most notably like the girls' sweepstakes teams were reduced and the boy's sweepstakes individuals were reduced. also looks like Woodbridge boys got moved to sweepstakes while Redondo Union stays in rated despite doing so good this early in the season.
Redondo Union #8 in their own section is just wrong. I would put MLK ahead of Great Oak based on Cool Breeze.
Hart got moved to D3 which gives them a good chance of winning state. They still have Matilda Torres in D3 though
someone text rich to let him know redondo union needs to be in sweep. How do you beat ayala without your number 1, dominate mira costa and jserra but get left out?

I have updated my individual rankings because of recent performances by Stefanopoulos and Fitchen-Young. Aydon beat Eli and got the course record of the 3 Mile course at the “Jackie Henderson XC Invitational!” Aydon ran 14:30, lowering it from its previous record of 14:47 by Eli last year. I don’t know what Eli ran today but he lost to Aydon. Since Eli got 19th at NXN last year, that prolly spells good for Aydon at least at this point in the season.

ML King has a very good 5 but there is no depth. Look what happens if there is no zavalleta or carlsen. ML King is a team that is very similar to what San Clemente was last year. They need a safe training plan that avoids injuries. Maybe they can add some cross training to get more fitness but they need to keep the mileage low.
