“64% of respondents collectively”. Collectively is the key word. That’s not really how this works. And that’s not what was done.
Collectively means together, as in two separate groups of people that both support loan forgiveness combined. It’s gonna be really hard to explain to you if you don’t get it. I’m not a 5th grade teacher.
From your survey: cancel all student loans for all student loan borrowers (19%) cancel all student loans for lower-income student loan borrowers (13%) cancel some student loans for all student loan borrowers (16%) cancel some student loans for lower-income student loan borrowers (16%) don’t cancel any student loans (29%)
If you were smart enough to teach 5th grade you couldn't look at that and come away thinking the Biden plan had majority support.
Huh? Try reading AND thinking. I said you should think a little bit. I said nothing about how little your deduction was cut. And you’re still not thinking. Your federal tax bill didn’t go up $40K because your deductions dropped $40K but yet you still paid that $40K in local taxes. So who should you be complaining about?
Let me try and break it down in a way even a dope like you can understand. If I lose $40K in itemized deductions, my AGI increases by $40K, and my Federal tax liability increases by my tax bracket % X $40K. This has absolutely nothing to do with my state taxes.
So the dollars you pay to the federal government in taxes are somehow different, more valuable than the dollars you pay to the state in taxes? You are dense.
You voted for the high SALT taxes. You should be thrilled you can actually pay them now.
I don’t mind paying them. I do mind double taxation. Are you in favor of double taxation of US citizens?
Please walk us through why you think not being able to pass on your state and local taxes to the federal government is double taxation.
State local and federal taxes are different things.
You're not being double taxed. You said you can still deduct $40k of your state and local taxes. You're not even paying all of your taxes let alone being double taxed.

I am not for cancelling this debt load either, but it is entirely possible (and reasonable) to support Biden for all of the other things he is doing, the #1 thing of which is keeping Trump out of the White House.
You can't expect to support everything a candidate does...well, Trumpers do that with Trump, but they are out of their minds.
He’s not Trump is mostly what you’re basing your support of Biden on? That’s it? And Trump supporters are out of their minds?
The only thing I agree with in your post is that you can support a candidate without supporting everything that person does. Trump is not that bright, not a very strategic thinker, probably a $hit to work for, says stupid things sometimes BUT he got far better results for Americans than Joetato has.
1) Yes, Biden is not Trump, and that's all I need. Americans voted him in as a vote AGAINST Trump, and as far as I'm concerned, he could do absolutely NOTHING as President (but he is actually accomplishing quite a lot), and I would be satisfied with that. Trump was and continues to be a serious threat to our Democratic Republic, and that is paramount to anything else.
2) Yes, Trump supporters are out of their minds. Every single one of them, and it doesn't matter what rationale they use to support him. He's a serial liar, a criminal, an autocrat, and he doesn't follow the rule of law or respect ANY political norms (and no, that's not a positive). He invited and incited insurrectionists to overturn a fair election, and now we find out he STOLE classified and Top Secret documents from the Federal Government, and not accidentally...willfully. Biden would not and will not ever do those criminal things.
3) There were fewer American jobs when Trump left office than when he began, the first President since Herbert Hoover for that to be the case. The unemployment rate was MUCH higher when he left office than when he began. He cozied up to dictators around the world and fell in love with murderous dictator Kim Jong-un. Biden, on the other hand, has managed SEVERAL significant pieces of legislation that does everything from lowering prescription drug prices to actually supporting our veterans. Oh, and on his priority and order, we took out al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri. If you're going to counter with high inflation and gas prices, don't bother. Both were global issues, and both are now falling. Gas can be had for under $3 a gallon in MANY states now, and inflation is dropping as well...along with record low unemployment.

Biden’s plan calls for means tested cancellation. That’s a majority
unless you’re so dumb to think that people who want all debt cancelled are against having some debt cancelled. (Which wasn’t asked because it’s moronic)

You're not being double taxed. You said you can still deduct $40k of your state and local taxes. You're not even paying all of your taxes let alone being double taxed.
No, I can deduct $10K of my state and local taxes, moron. You don’t even understand the basics of the TCJA, let alone the concept of double taxation.

You keep calling people imbeciles after repeatedly demonstrating than you don't understand your own taxes... lol.
Your corrupt Democrat officials jacked up the taxes in your blue city and state and said "don't worry you'll never have to pay this you can deduct it".
You should be mad at the corrupt Democrats who tried to game the system.
You vote for the "tax the rich" party and now you're whining because you can't deduct more than the average American even makes?
You're more tone deaf than AOC wearing her $30k "tax the rich" dress to her $35k a plate gala.

Forgive me for not being familiar with YOUR taxes....
You said:
"My deductions were cut in half by the cap on the SALT deduction, from >$80K to $40K."
The basics of the TCJA are you got a tax cut unless you're rich.

Let's say you make $100 a year.
Your federal tax is $30 and your SALT tax is $10.
Your tax burden is $40.
Pre TCJA you could deduct half your salt tax reducing your AGI to $95. You would then pay the $10 SALT and your federal tax would be reduced to $28.50.
Your tax burden was $40 but you only paid $38.50.
If 100% of deductions are removed the most you would pay is the $40 that was due.

I gotta ask. The Biden administration doesn’t enforce the immigration laws and now even refuses to deport illegals that lose their asylum hearings. So essentially they’re not enforcing the democratically enacted laws of the country. Isn’t that a textbook example of being a threat to democracy? Or is it only about the laws YOU agree with?

Anyone who blames Trump for the economic fallout of the covid pandemic isn’t starting from an unbiased position. The job comments is disingenuous.
Inflation is a statistic based on a sample and, therefore, comes with uncertainty. One month of zero inflation or a dip in the 12 month number is NOT proof of a statistically significant trend.
Gas prices have dropped because demand has dropped from 12M bpd to less than 10M bpd. What happens with high inflation, high gas prices and a recession.
The unemployment rate is low because the labor force participation rate is lower. People dropped out the workforce and haven’t come back! You weren’t curious how post pandemic pandemic there can be so many open jobs while the unemployment rate is so low? And first time filings for unemployment have been rising for 10 weeks. So the trend on a lagging indicator is down. And a significant portion of the new jobs posted are people taking second jobs to offset Joeflation.

If 100% of deductions are removed the most you would pay is the $40 that was due.
You aren't being double taxed.
[slams head on desk] If my SALT taxes are $40K and were fully deductible prior to the TCJA, but the deduction is capped at $10K post TCJA, kindly explain how that’s not a tax increase. Extra credit: Explain how imposing a tax on income that already been taxed is not double taxation.

It is hysterical that you don't understand this.
Did you taxes go up? Yes.
Was your tax rate increased? No.
You are simply actually having to pay your taxes for the first time. If we can get rid of that last $10k you'll finally being paying ALL of your taxes.
You're still struggling with what double taxation means...
Not being allowed to deduct things is not double taxation.

What I truly hate about Democrats…you pass a bunch of bills that are ostensibly designed to fix a problem. Every bill budgets billions and trillions of dollars to try to fix a problem. And yet before one dollar is spent or one problem is fixed you declare victory. DESPITE a demonstrated history of things not getting fixed. Get back to me when Dims actually fix something.
My theory is that Dim fixes address symptoms and not causes…despite what Kamala says. it’s why nothing ever gets fixed and Dims never run out of problems
