There's a 12-page feature story in the new issue (Aug. 6, 2012) issue of The New Yorker by Mark Singer headlined "Marathon Man: A Michigan dentist's improbable transformation."

In it Singer finally corners Litton at a Wendy's in his hometown of Clarkston, Michigan. The fraud sat at a table under a framed photo of Wendy's founder Dave Thomas complete with the caption "When it comes to values, I've never been one to cut corners." And as Litton continued to stonewall ("his tone remained steady and uninflected"), "Lady Gaga's 'Poker Face' played on the Wendy's stereo system."

At another point in the story Singer writes, "(Kip Litton) denied that he had cheated or had intended to deceive - and offered justifications that left one in awe of his gift for just making shit up."

After reading the article, I went to the Wendy's on Dixie Highway. There is no where to sit under a picture of Dave Thomas. I assume they must have been at the other one.

Sorry for my belated posting of info from The New Yorker article. I'm a subscriber to the mag, had just received my copy and devoured the piece last night. When I saw the full story was not available online to nonsubscribers, I came here to note that the piece existed. I did so before paging back far enough through this thread to see extensive discussion of the Mark Singer piece had already taken place.

I recall reading about Litton here ages ago, but I haven't been a frequent visitor to LR beyond the home page for some time so I missed all the grassroots investigation into the matter.

Congrats to everyone here who held Litton's cheating feet to the fire. Singer's story would not likely have been possible otherwise.
