If you Google earth the race course it shows that there was no elevation change greater than one meter. Flat as a pancake. However, these times are not too far off, in my opinion. I think the guys from NYU and SLU can run races like that again at regionals, if you assume they'll peak well.
well I assume NYU will peak well...if SLU peaks for nationals instead of regionals again they might be left out of the dance
The course was flat, that explains the fast times. Good racing by NYU and SLU. You had to expect a good race out of NYU but I didn't think they would run that well, well done. I don't know how this course will translate to the regional course at SLU, but both teams showed they can run fast on grass which wont hurt them. Now the ball is in TCNJ's court...will the AR get 5 teams to nationals?
Impressive race by the Dan Ramsey and the haters grow quiet. Nine seconds off the winning pace is a great place for him to be. The saints spread was only 10 seconds from their 2nd to 5th man, an important stat if they don't want to repeat lasts years mistakes.
What do people hear about ranked teams that got spanked at this meet but NYU and SLU? Did they hold out runners?

P.S. I admire your ballsy prediction most notably Plattsburgh and I do like what Lynch is doing with the programs up there and I think they will definitely qualify for nationals. NYU definitely destroyed SLU. Check the Oberlin results.
What do people know of the Williams course? Times seemed slow but Guerriero(?) managed to run a 25:25. Considering the course might be slow and or tough I think TCNJ still has some worrying to do. Only 3 guys under 27. Of course I reserve judgement until I know something about the course.
On the other hand Chris looks to be running very well. He ran a minute faster than the rest of the field and was clearly just showing off his fitness.
Dean, if you have time to google map courses you have too much time on your hands. Get a girlfriend or something.

Course record for the Williams course was last year when Peter Kosgei beat Neal Holtschulte 25:07 to 25:09. As far as I know, 25:25 is the third fastest time ever on the course, so it's definitely legit.
Our course is pretty much an 8000m track with a grass/woodchip surface. Not an iota of elevation on it.

Yes the course is pretty much flat, but is a legit to hair long 8k. It is true grass not golf course fairways, and the ground was soft and there were some wet spots from rain that came thru thursday. Wood chip trail is nice, but again not super firm. Fast times were a combination of flat course and good competition.

Oberlin coach exact words. Anyone who knows Appenheimer knows he is about as honest and legit as they come and wouldnt make the course a bit short.
Its XC anyway, who cares. NYU beat a bunch of ranked teams end of story.

how can you say that?...It looks like just from looking at results from the season so far Cortland will get 3 in before Geneseo's second...I think it'll be tight but right now (for the SUNYAC meet anyway) I have Cortland winning with 31 and Geneseo second with 36...plus with the rest of the region coming into the pictures Cortlands one gets even farther out in front of Geneseo's one...I'm surprised no one else has seen this besides ghost of blake

You must just take times from each meet and combine it in a database. This is not track, times from different courses don't add up.
In their only head to head battle Geneseo beat Cortland handily with 4 before Brunetto who seems to be their 2nd consistently. Since then Cortland has impressed, but on courses that are VERY fast on days that are cool and crisp (Lehigh ran almost 35 seconds faster per girl that ran at SLU the week earlier, and PSU times compared to Lehigh were pretty similar as well).
Geneseo's top 4 ran what looks like somewhat of a controlled/hard effort in packs at Rochester. But it does look like their 5-9 girls had bad days.
This is cross country. Times don't matter, beating people does. Every course is different. I think you have to beat a team to be ranked ahead of them, despite what paper may say.
We will see who is better in two weeks I guess. Geneseo does seem to be falling apart a bit in my eyes, but Cortland had a subpar race this weekend too (No Hollborn and their usual 3rd girl was 5th a whole minute slower than her previous best), the rest of their girls ran slower than Lehigh yet other D1 teams ran the same or faster. The thing about Cortland is that in the past Brunetto, McGrath and others have not put it together in championships before...I hope for their sake they do, but we will see.

I was at the UR race on Saturday, and the runners from Geneseo did not look like they were running controlled at all. It looked more like that were running their asses off, and considering last week was the first meet for consideration in NCAA bids I don't see why, with a week off before SUNYACs, they would run anything but all out. Personally I don't see Geneseo getting an automatic bid after NYU's performance this weekend.
