Official Idaho 2024 Track Thread

Thanks everyone for a fun season of chatting and speculation! I’m eager to see all the predictions for distance events next weekend.

800: Kemper

1600: Stadtlander

3200: Max

Rocky boys get 1 top 5 finish across all three individual events

4x8: CDA, Boise, Centennial, Rocky

The 800 and 4x8 predictions are solid, but Landon Heemeyer has the best mile mark of the season (by ~2 seconds) and the best 3200 by just over a second, although both Ringert and Sheesley who are the next closest have never really tried it with Heemeyer, they always have let him run away with it.

5A:

3200: Landon

1600: Landon

800: Nate

I see the 1600 playing out one of two ways.

1. Heemeyer makes it honest from the gun and tries to run the kick out. Heemeyer or Kemper win this.
2. The race turns tactical and Stadtlander wins, with Kemper likely in 2nd. By tactical I mean anything slower than 2:06 at the 800. I imagine it will have a 60-61 opening lap, and if it slows hard on the 2nd lap, then I don't see it winding down enough to run the kick out of those guys.

I think anything slower than 4:13 will be won with a :57 or faster last lap, and I don't think Heemeyer can close that fast.

I think the 3200 will thin out by 1600 and it will be Heemeyer, Ringert, Sheesley, and Max CS with maybe some guys hanging on for another 400 or 800 meters. I think Heemeyer should win, but if he has to do all of the leading, then it opens the door for an upset.

Predictions:

1a - Stockett sweeps 800, 1600, 3200

2a - Johnston sweeps

3a - Russell 800; Speirs 1600, 3200

4a - Athay sweeps

5a - Kemper 800; Stadtlander 1600; Heemeyer 3200

Time merge (not absolute rankings because 5a has the advantage of more in race competition and not everyone runs the 3200 first):

800: Kemper, Stadtlander, McComber, Stockett, Russell

1600: Stadtlander, Heemeyer, Kemper, Athay, Stockett

3200: Heemeyer, Stadtlander, Athay, Stockett, Ringert

Would love to see Stockett and Athay go head to head and also race the 5A guys.

Also worth noting that CDA had 3 middle schooler's go 4:43, 4:50, and 4:58.

CDA should be unstoppable going into 24' and 25' XC

You sure they are all going to CDA?

They all were attached to the North Idaho Distance Project team, so I imagine that they are coached by Carr already.
