Wiley will have trouble with those names because some have already beaten her. She faced Haylom and Chepkirui in the World U20 final last summer. Haylom won the race, Chepkurui was 3rd and Wiley was several seconds back in 5th.

She didn't face Chepchirchir in that meet because Chepchirchir was still focusing on the 800. Chepchirchir ran 4th in the 800 final behind Willis, Werro and Whitaker.

I don't think that Wiley cares what place she finishes. I think she is just looking to run a fast time.

Please explain how you've reached the conclusion that a 4:26 is much more difficult for a girl than even just sub4 is for a boy. Thanks.

Based on your simple question and your fanaticism for Wiley, you are probably someone around Wiley's age and fairly new to the sport, so here is a history lesson.

More than a dozen US high school boys have broken 4 minutes. In some years multiple boys break 4 minutes. Plus there are dozens more US high school boys who have been only 1 or 2 seconds away from breaking 4 minutes.

Only one US girl in history has run 4:26. And very, very few other US high school girls have even gotten within 5 seconds of that time.

What is the men's WR and what is the women's WR, and how does a 4:26 and just a 4flat correspond to those? Thanks.

This is exactly why Addy Wiley is on the verge of a huge contract. She is in a league of her own. And has been since her freshman year of high school. Anonymous people want to cast dispersions on her, but in your own words no one is even close to doing what she has done.

Agents, meet directors, pro athletes, USATF, they all know this and are all on board for Addy Wiley. This website is the only place you can find the haters lurking anonymously.

And then there is Rojo who is not anonymous. Incase you missed it….in his own words he has become a publisher and editor by moderating all discussion content and choosing whose side of the story is heard relating to Wiley and Huntington University. He has owned this personally on several threads, and will pay a high price for it.

It has since been deleted, but Rojo claims he will now be calling a super agent believed to be representing Addy Wiley to meddle in her future based on his expert knowledge of Huntington, Indiana….which he probably attained at Yale and Cornell. He aspires to convince said super agent to remove America’s best hope for a middle distance medal in the next three Olympic Games….who just ran a 1:57.64 800m….from the Brussels Diamond League 1500m that the super agent is believed to have negotiated Wiley into. And to interfere in her signing a pro contract with anyone. I personally can’t wait to see the benevolent dick-tater in action and learn his real stature in this sport!

Not all girls run the 1600. Wiley's 4:26 is not even in the top 3 in the U.S. when looking at combined 1500/1600/mile times. It might make it into the top 75 U20 times. She also had the advantage of that event being paced. I think the multiple paced races with pros have helped her to faster times ... and I think that's a good thing up to a point.

Try again. Wiley is at or near the top at all of those distances. Top 75, Ha! There are two girls deserving of being mentioned ahead of Wiley at this point in her career based on where they were at similar ages: Jenny Simpson and Athing Mu. That’s it. Full stop. Gold medals for both. Big contracts for both. Wiley has a bright future.

All I am saying is that when Wiley ran a 4:26 1600m while in high school, there were three U.S. girls who had run faster in the combined 1500/1600/mile times. There were maybe 70+ U20 women in the world who had run faster (all time). If she is in an environment that is relaxing and that she enjoys and she doesn't over train, I think (hope) she has a bright future.

My apologies then, I thought you meant in the US. 75 seems high for the all time world list for high school age though. Especially since she is now 11th in the 800m in the senior category for world athletics. Ultimately though, I think we are on the same page that Addy Wiley is the future if she stays healthy!

Jenny was 22 when she ran 3:59. Wiley could be faster at that age.

Mary Cain was was 17 when she ran 1:59, 4:04 and 4:28. She ran 4:24 at age 18.

Effraimson ran 4:03 at age 18.

It seems crazy that Mary is only 27 now and ran in the WC final 10 years ago. McGee is 31 and Hiltz is 28. While Wiley has tremendous potential, predicting a young female athlete's career trajectory is a dice roll.

All good points. But there is not a safer roll of the dice than Addy Wiley based on her age, progression, PR’s, and the way she conducts herself in interviews. Don’t believe me? Go watch them. Agents know this. As do meet directors and shoe executives.

Don’t take my word for it, she is in the Brussles Diamond League 1500m. Placed there by her own race results and the due diligence of MANY in power in the sport. Over some other names you mentioned earlier. You don’t get into a meet like that by accident.

Incredible. She ran an intelligent race like Laura Muir ran her 800m in Zurich coming from basically last place down the homestretch and passing almost everyone to position herself for the last lap effort.

Thanks for publishing this list too! I was wondering how she stood in the all-time lists after such an effort. I last saw her in the Ed Murphey Classic where she was given a bottle of champagne for winning and demurred that she was too young. (Yeah, right!)

The entire Bellinzona track meet is available for replay on Flotrack. It's worth every penny to have a Flotrack subscription so that you can watch these Continental Cup meets. Some of the meets are so-so but this one was almost magical, given the six-lane track setting in Switzerland surrounded by the Swiss Alps and an ancient castle dominating the night along with the stadium. Lots of good vibes in the crowd and many of the athletes were in fine form. Great production and overhead visuals. Some great stars showed up as well including ETH, Femke Bol, Valerie Allman and more. Great competition in both the men's and women's discus events.
