Initially, this thread was entitled "UCLA track coach, Sean Brosnan, Fired for NCAA violations" but we changed it as Brosnan told us he was simply not renewed for next year.
A quick note regarding the hiring of high school coaches for college.
Obviously this is just generalities, but the widely known high school coaches fall into three types for me: the cult of personality coaches (Arcadia, York, Saratoga), the ones who had a generational talent at their school (Brosnan, Raczko (admittedly forgot about his coaching under cook (d'amato was after, talking about hiring in 2001) , Bruce Edwards, Judy Fellhauer), and the verifiably good coaches, repeated success with a small team (Pat Tyson, Bill Aris).
Depending on what you think matters for success in college coaching, if you think coaching is easy and recruiting is most important, hire a likable cult of personality coach; if you think coaching is important, hire a verifiably good coach. To me, hiring a coach who happened to have a superstar at their high school is a big gamble, especially at a big name D1 school.
Gregg Popovich coached at Pomona and ended up being one of the top NBA coaches of alltime. Before Arcadia, Jim O' Brien was a non-notable coach at Caltech, after he coached at Whittier. Brosnan is young and there are lots of SCIAC and other college coaching jobs in LA that aren't UCLA where he could prove his college coaching ability.
What SCIAC job is currently open for him to even apply for? Or any coaching job in LA? There needs to be an opening for him to get hired, he definitely isn’t at the level for schools to create an opening specifically for him
Sagehens?!?

Yes, there is outrage amongst the team. Why don’t the media reach out to them to get their take? They reached out to Brosnan. So let’s talk to the team next. We aren’t going to hear much from them if they aren’t given the opportunity to be heard on the main running platforms.

OK, so the self proclaimed 9xAll-American claims:
1) he was let go without explanation
2) he did nothing wrong
3) it was all political
4)the team is outraged
and you believe him. Gotcha.
They have all kinds of opportunity to be heard. I would bet they are well versed enough on the various social media platforms to express their outrage.
There are probably a few athletes that are bummed and likely as many or more that aren't so heart broken.
Raszko was an assistant at George Mason under John Crook before he Coached Webb. He also had quite a bit of success at South Lakes HS following Webb and currently coaches Keira D'Amato. A bit different situation.
Mark Wetmore was a well known high school coach, he's developing into a competent college coach at cu.
Mia Barnett has entered the transfer portal according to thestridereport. Interesting
Sam McDonnell has now also entered the transfer portal. If anything, both of them entering the portal is even more evidence against Brosnan, as the argument everyone's made for their extremely sketchy transfers is that it was to go back to their hometown school. Now both will either have to return to their previous institutions (certainly not happening), or they'll both have to sit out a full year of eligibility. So, in the end, Brosnan gets fired for illegally recruiting athletes, the school doesn't get to keep those athletes, and the athletes have to sit out a year as punishment for engaging in NCAA violations. Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, it's pretty obvious that the NCAA told UCLA to handle things on their own, or they'd come down with their own hammer.

It’s wierd. Like ever since this dude was hired he has had special treatment. Posts deleted that were much more tame than others regarding other coache- and even this it’s like “he was let go because the admins didn’t like his coaching style”
thats Horse poopie. Admins don’t fire low level assistants on teams that are low level tiered sports. Either admit this is your buddy and you’re partial or be honest to everyone
Even the new title of the thread was changed to “confirmed SB won’t return in year two” gtfoh he was FIRED post should say “LRC confirmed SB fired and Won’t return”
Wasn't his contract "not renewed". That would technically be different than firing because firing would probably include some compensation.
I don't see the logic with the argument that this is more evidence against Brosnan. The truth is that there was no evidence and only accusations. Even if the athletes left to be closer to home (and be coached by SB), that does not mean tampering. Athletes follow their coaches all the time. Does that mean they were all tampered too?
The athletes have a right to make a change if they're not happy. These kids are all connected nowadays on social media. Surely, the athletes were in communication with each other which is completely permissible so long as it's not at the direction of the coach. That being said, if I were in their shoes, I would have wanted to transfer too--both times. Can you really blame them?
