That guy is weird. I happily pay what I owe. In the future when I owe a ton more than I do now, I will consider it an achievement.
Weird that he’s questioning the SALT deduction getting reduced and not why his local taxes are so high. That math doesn’t even add up.
Local taxes are high because the voters in my state and locality support public services, unlike $h1tholes like Floriduh, which are being driven to ruination by the likes of Rhonda Santis. Duh. 🙄

”According to the poll, 34% of respondents said only borrowers “in need” should have their student loans forgiven, while 32% are in favor of loan forgiveness for all Americans who have student debt.
32+34= 66% support some loan forgiveness.
It amazes me that conservatives on this site continue to outright lie when their assertions are easily dispelled. I think it’s called living in a bubble
I don’t ever recall saying I thought double taxation was something I was opposed to. Eliminating double taxation is a big hill to climb when you think of all the ones you pay…virtually impossible. What you should be questioning isn’t why Trump tax cuts reduced that deduction but why your local taxes are so high. Especially since for every dollar of those taxes you’re paying you only reduce your federal tax bill a fraction of that. I was right about your needing to think a little.
A little bit? You’re an imbecile. My deductions were cut in half by the cap on the SALT deduction, from >$80K to $40K.
Huh? Try reading AND thinking. I said you should think a little bit. I said nothing about how little your deduction was cut. And you’re still not thinking. Your federal tax bill didn’t go up $40K because your deductions dropped $40K but yet you still paid that $40K in local taxes. So who should you be complaining about?
Too funny. I live in Florida where I don’t pay state or local income tax and my property taxes are relatively low. And I guarantee the services I get are equal or better. But keep voting blue dude.
For early foundations, which examines factors that help children get off to a good start, Florida earns a B-minus and ranks 41st.
Florida receives a B-minus for the school years, a sub-category focusing on metrics related to pre-K enrollment through postsecondary participation. It finishes 17th in the nation in this area.
In the area of adult outcomes, based on postsecondary educational attainment and workforce indicators, Florida’s grade is a C-minus. It ranks 41st in the nation.
School Finance: Grading the States on Spending and Equity. This year, Florida finishes 42nd among the 50 states and the District of Columbia, with an overall score of 68.5 out of 100 points and a grade of D-plus. The nation as a whole posts a grade of C.
Joe you really are blowing it here. Canceling $10,000 worth of student debt per borrower? You just look silly. This is the type of thing which encourages irresponsibility. You blew it Joe.
I am not for cancelling this debt load either, but it is entirely possible (and reasonable) to support Biden for all of the other things he is doing, the #1 thing of which is keeping Trump out of the White House.
You can't expect to support everything a candidate does...well, Trumpers do that with Trump, but they are out of their minds.

Let me try and break it down in a way even a dope like you can understand. If I lose $40K in itemized deductions, my AGI increases by $40K, and my Federal tax liability increases by my tax bracket % X $40K. This has absolutely nothing to do with my state taxes.
In all reality this is getting thrown out in the courts. Biden just did it to make it look like he was fulfilling a campaign promise, knowing that it would be tossed by the courts in a desperate attempt to court young votes heading into the midterms where they will likely get trounced. Using a 2003 law aimed at providing temporary loan relief for soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan as justification for absolving $400 billion in student debt for people who never served their country is an extreme overreach of executive powers. The reason they didn't try to actually address student loans in the congressional route is because it would be DOA, even with Democrats controlling the means to do so because it would be political suicide for them to do so.

He’s not Trump is mostly what you’re basing your support of Biden on? That’s it? And Trump supporters are out of their minds?
The only thing I agree with in your post is that you can support a candidate without supporting everything that person does. Trump is not that bright, not a very strategic thinker, probably a $hit to work for, says stupid things sometimes BUT he got far better results for Americans than Joetato has.

I’ve lived in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Texas and Florida. The latter two have public services as good or better than the other three. With no state income. You’re likely being held hostage by public sector union workers with unsustainable benefits and retirements. Illinois was close to bankrupt because of that very thing.
You’re not bright enough to figure out the math on your own tax return so I’m not surprised you're being scammed.

You voted for the high SALT taxes. You should be thrilled you can actually pay them now.
Finding unbiased polls that support this position isn’t hard. Some debt forgiveness is favored by the majority. Does that surprise you?
It doesn't surprise me that you're falling for polls like these.
cancel all student loans for all student loan borrowers (19%) cancel all student loans for lower-income student loan borrowers (13%) cancel some student loans for all student loan borrowers (16%) cancel some student loans for lower-income student loan borrowers (16%) don’t cancel any student loans (29%)
The key is "some debt forgiveness".
People generally agree that student loans are predatory and that something needs to be done. Anyone who looks at where this "64%" number comes from and concludes that a majority of people support Biden's blanket loan forgiveness for people making 6 figures is a fool.
“64% of respondents collectively”. Collectively is the key word. That’s not really how this works. And that’s not what was done.
Collectively means together, as in two separate groups of people that both support loan forgiveness combined. It’s gonna be really hard to explain to you if you don’t get it. I’m not a 5th grade teacher.
