Today was an extremely easy 14 miles in Elsa, Texas. It is pretty hot and humid here (87 degrees, 64 % humidity), so I stopped to have water at 6 miles, and at 11. Pace was around 7:30 per mile. Good stuff, happy 4th of July!

The trade off for going back 39 years to when 7:30 pace felt "extremely easy" would be having to again face the extensive work it's taken to stare 60 in the eye. Guess I'll stay where I am.
AM: 30 mi. biked @14MPH. Followed that with 3.4 miles run in 27 min.
Temp at 76F and humid. Our 19 YO accomplice crapped out at 7 mi Mumbled something about not being in as good a shape as he thought. The Bride and I couldn't restrain a chuckle as he accepted a ride home from a passing good samaritan.
A few days to go to the MOARG but after last weekend's awesome-scenery cross-dolomitic driving, i might have as well gone to Gimmelwald. Still, might be a good way to get some base mileage.
Today
Some treadmill testing
Then early evening: 10k in Solari park. Feeling good
Monday
Rest. Went for a check up to a new osteopath in Milan. Shook me up a little bit but said i'm fine. He's a runner too. So we will go in Trenno park for a spin maybe on Thursday
Sunday
Merano - Piani di Luzza (where my kids are camping, as i drove to see them to day hi) - Cortina D'ampezzo - Bolzano - Milan (arrived monday morning after crashing a few hourse for some shuteye in a guesthof near Dobbiaco)
Early in the morning, from Merano i went for a nice trailrun with buddy RobertF in Val Venosta after listening to a daybreak, exitential jazz harp-and-percussion concert in a vineyard. yes: wtf, but actually the music with the mountain scenery was quite moving at times
Saturday
PM - 1.5hr barefoot run in Merano's park
AM - drove Milan - Corvara, where they were preparing for Maratona Delle Dolomiti cycling race. Some 10000 were attending, would have been fun to stay and watch. Rented a city bike and rode Corvara - Pedraces (where the race village was about 8k downhill) - Corvara for the highest cyclist density commute i have ever experienced. Big race was 138k of scenic wonders
Friday
cant remember
I missed you guys. Great to read the recent posts. Gonna check on mopak's football. Italian couterpart has avalanched to mediocrity. I won't even start...
-238 days to The MOARG The Mother Of All Running Gatherings in Gimmelwald, Switzerland, in 2011
The Corvara ride sounds like a field day for Bike builders and riders. 138K, you should be getting your moneys worth.
Hosted our MTB group ride tonight. Covered 15 miles, time around 90 minutes. Uber muggy and buggy. The beer and laughs post ride balanced it out.
MOARG, Maybe one should come home with a Pinarello to boot ????
Monday. A nice relaxed 70 mins, trotted down to the golf course and then 2 rolling laps in naked feet chasing large mobs of roos. Finished with a nice easy trot back home.
Tuesday. Stopped on the return from work at Axedale Cemetary. A strong 75 min/25km mountain bike ride. Out to Sugarloaf Ranges and looped around through the forest and past the massive Fosterville Gold Mine. At the top of the big climb I spotted the local Wedge Tail Eagle perched in a tree. He took to wing just in front of me, a glorious sight. Last week at this point I was greeted with a glorious sunset. I wonder what next week will bring?
Today. Stopped at Wildflower on the way to work. Ran 2 laps of the hilly 6.5km trail. I timed my self through a lap in the middle of the run at 29.00, either end of that was just easy running probably 5.00-5.05 per km.
Bushman, there were Pinarellos all over! Yes for competitors it really is a field day. About 10000 ride out of 25000 who apply.
Meanwhile Bianchi workers are on strike in Milan...
Today rest
AM; 1 hour bike with the family. Soft pedaling.
Late AM. 1 hour in the water. I won't call it swimming quite yet.
PM. 22 mile ride. Uptempo for me, with segments at 19-22mph. Rain and a daunting head wind on the way back dropped the avg. to 15.5MPH. Drove home and capped the day with 4X170 yds. striders (naked feet) on our rain soaked lawn. The heel is better, life is good.
tpcb: Bucket/wish list has of late come to include a Pinarello with Campy components. God, I feel like a craven materialist oogling the most sensual bike on the planet(IMHO).
40 minutes on the treadmill
felt like shit all day until the evening
upset stomach lately, workout tomorrow
82F, moderate humidity. Last nights 3/8 inch of rain kept the roads dust free. 4 miles in 36 min. Legs flat and sluggish overall. A summer red deer held her grazing ground, to watch as I passed the field she fed in
Summer's aroma tell of growing vegatation, and rich harvest to come.
That's really what thanksgiving-givingthanks should be about, no?
You look around you, gather the senses, fuse in the environment and realize what good fortune can be.
Rest another day, still recovering from the driving last weekend. Should be able to run a classic mountain trail this Sunday.
Have a good weekend.
Friday; Rest
Sat. Small sprint triatlon town. 2nd M55-59 slot. Great weather. The foot says I over did it. Hobbling now. ohboy.
Yesterday
Did the usual summer vacation Madonnina mountain race (except i am not on vacation - i just drove up) in 45:45. Should be a PR as the best record i could find on here says i usually do it in high 40s.
Saturday
Driving and rest
Hope the foot gets better.
Rest and comfort food at yesterdays family reunion.
Calcaneus, talus, and navicular bones are working out who bears the load. Off on a bike ride for now.
Three cheers on the PR in the Mountains.
apologies for the lack of diligence in my reporting.....2 on, 1 off continues and is going well.....usually 60' followed by 40' and a rest day.....today is a rest day.....no major issues, just the usual aches associated with aging.....life is good...
PM, 1/2 mile swim. This is strenuous, in my book.
Advanced from hobbling to shuffling. I project a walk will be attained tomorrow or Weds.
2 on, 1 off...... Man, that sounds sensible.
MOARG, plus a few legs of The TdF.??? 2011. Life is good and getting better.
AM
junk miles, shopping at city market, walked back with bags plus a huge watermelon in a crossfit hold LOL
Yesterday
slow, high turnover short-route jog to Parco Sempione, drills at the chinup bars in effort to recover from Sunday (walk back to the car all downhill more taxing than race itself). Started sluggish, then warmed-up, progressed to circuit-like rhythm with some barefoot walking drills alternating between gravelly main path and the cemented-stones runoff path edges.
Maybe Supertramp struck, took the long way home as the park was teeming with Running Life; and heck: ever since i started running, no function will ever find a total for my greatfulness, for that sense of instant blissfulness that things can be simply JUST and OK one millisecond at the Time.
Then to prove the theorem, a couple of phonecalls away, with the day's outing on the lake, the Optimist capsizing, wind and watery choppiness threatening, "a bit of childish fear", the speedboat rescuing, hours, not milliseconds, but hours of unknowing, unwitting disempowerment, become a shared lighthearted laugh that seems eternal.

So, if i uppick the vibe, The MOARG and Gimmelwald also as the launchpad for TDF routes exploration? Well, how about duba-or-nuthin with a lake location for the swim leg?
yesterday, 2 hours on the MTB@ ninemile forest.
Rest today. UP bound tomorrow.
Swimming is a solid bet, but the water should be warm.
Left foot is a mess. I'm electing to use the bike as the only valid way out of this pickle.
Thurs. 26 miles on the road bike.
Friday; 2:30 MTB. 110 AHR
Sat. 1:30 MTB. Attempt at running cut short @ 50' ofdottering shuffles.
Sunday; yet to be determined.
the lazy summer is getting to me.....not my running, just my reporting on DYRT......completed about 250' last week over 5 days.....my best week in a long time.....Sunday off, then 60' today.....slower than usual because of heat and humidity......finished with a swim.....then mowed the lawn.....
Hey Bushman,
bests for the left foot. Dont lose heart.
Been really busy and was really looking forward to posting
So:
Sunday drive back from Friedrichschafen's Outdoor Festival
PM: run to Milan's Parco Sempione for some extensive exercising at chinup bar. Major quadrupedia esp this right leg left arm (and viceversa) equilibrium drills which adjusted the heck out of my spine.
Saturday
PM: our women's team (Angela and Viola) placed first and third at a Trail Parkour race. It was raining and the course was pretty brutal so really a major congrats to them on their technique. Men's (Simone and Matteo) had much tougher and abundant competition; got only as far as semifinals. Atmosphere was uber friendly so really the point was just to have fun. Still major congrats for the amount of lactic acid that Martin, a cool runner from France, was able to handle in a short period of time in winning the mens. I also ran and took it easy.
AM: Ran one trial of the Trail Parkour race and then did a lot of activity on climbing walls, slacklines, some obstacle courses.
Friday
AM: Talked to outdoor folks and visitors about barefoot and minimalist running.
PM: Warmed up some on the Trail Parkour course with the women's team. They competed and qualified for finals. So did one of our guys. It was two competitors at the time, winner qualifies type deal.
Thursday
Walked for 50 mins on the shores in Meersburg around Konstanz lake. Walked and walked around the Outdoor fair.
Wednesday
Ran in the morning before drive to Friedrichschafen. Unavoidable thinking of going for reconaissance in Gimmelwald as we drove through San Bernardino pass. Not enough time...this time...
