I think I could have slotted into that race very comfortably tpcb.
Saturday was a hard 15k bike followed by a flat 5km trail handicap in 20.40. A sluggish last km. Chased the Wolfman hard from go to whoa, gave him 40s but never closer than 30s. Reached 2d place, back to 3d 400m out and eventually dropped to 4th.
Sunday. A point to point 6.5km road race, also a handicap event. Our associate Melbourne club also involved. It's a hilly course.
Never felt quite right but battled it out well enough for 25.50. Had a good battle with 17yo Lachie until 3.5-4kms when I pulled away up the km long hill to the British American Pub (serves Chinese meals lol). Chased JB all the way and finally found the grunt to get by him 400m out.
My son and I ran back to the car after the race.
Monday. Stopped at the bottom of the Sugarloaf Ridge on the way home from work. Ran the ridgetop track, nice scenic running with some good uphills. A few big diggings up near the top and some views of the massive Fosterville Goldmine below. Ducked down of the ridge to the mine fenceline then orienteered my way back up to the ridge top track. 85 mins running.
Tuesday. No work so headed back to the same area but did it on the mtn bike. A bit trickier with wheels. Nearly cleaned up a wege tail eagle at the end of the ridge track. Found some smoother terrain for 15kms or so and gave the pedals some serious work. All up 1h 45m and 35kms, although only 30m for the last 15km.
Today, out in the kyak for about an hour. Just me and a bunch of cormorants. It's winter and only 12 deg.
Stopped at the golf course on the way home and ran 20 barefoot minutes inc 3x400m fairways at race pace.
