That was Hassan’s fault. She was moving out to her right to keep Tsegay from passing her, then I think just panicked when she knew Tsegay was going to win.

Like SO MANY runners (including elites, especially women), Hassan drifted out into not just the outside of lane 1 but into lane 2.
Tsegay was just holding her line, which left plenty of space if Hassan didn't just run into her.

The Ethiopian women are tough and talented. I have a friend who works at the local bagel store who is in the US having immigrated from Ethiopia. She is working her way through school, and all of the family is in Ethiopia and she is here alone so I am concerned for her. I talk to her about the Ethiopian runners all of the time, and I know she watched this race. Can't wait to talk to her tomorrow about the race. Don't have anything against Hassan, but she had to kick later than she did - I think she thought she could run away from the field.

my feed was perfect.
Hassan went too early. she tried to be more patient than usual, but should have waited another 50 at least

Not a DQ as we saw Paul Chelimo do the same thing in the OLY trials 5000m in 2021. If you have the lead you can take the outside line to the finish line. I dont agree with it but its the rule..
