He is 99% out of luck at the college level (at schools he'd consider working for - there are some NAIA or D2/D3 schools that might hire him but he wouldn't entertain that).
The door is open to go back to high school, but he's already said he won't.
So yeah, he's done.
Brosnan and another well known coach have a new group. It’s not my place to give details and ruin any kind of announcement or whatever they might have planned. Both coaches have been working with agents, athletes and such. It’s not really big news at this point or a secret in the running world. There are actually a few new groups launching. I know there were some clues on Brosnan’s IG, but unless you knew you would have missed it. Besides the fact that his post was a little too cryptic for my liking. This kind of news usually has to go through certain channels before people hear and an announcement maybe go public. For the posters who can’t breath without knowing what Brosnan is doing, you’ll have to sit back and breath deep and focus, you’ll be ok.

Are these the same certain channels he used to announce he was starting a pro group last year or that he used to announce his book?

Think groups just start and maybe someone like CM or FloTrack do a story on it.

Whats going on with Mike Smith group or Pete Julian’s Denver group. It’s been silent

More to come I guess. They all sound epic for the sport to me.

With all the announcements of athletes changing sponsors, moving teams and signing contracts, I would think someone would have signed with Brosnan and the other well known coach. Best guesses who will join, where it will be and the sponsor?
Why would you think that? He is a disgraced coach who got fired from his one real job. That is like being amazed that people don't use a doctor who had his medical license revoked.

How’s this coming along?
As he said on the podcast, when he announced he was forming his pro group, over a year ago; “I’ve got tons of guys” that were wanting to be coached by him.

My guess is they're hoping to tie the launch of their pro group to the release of Brosnan's Newbury Park book, which was picked up by Atria Books in November, causing him to drop the December 2025 self-publishing plan and send a bunch of refunds to people who had ordered it from Brosnan's One Athletics website. (One Athletics is, I presume, the name of the planned pro group.)
The book is now titled "Beyond Fast: How a Renegade Coach and His Unlikely High School Team Revolutionized Distance Running," and it has a holding page here with a September 2, 2025 release:

Why would it make any sense to launch a pro group with any tie at all to this book being sold? The runners he would coach really wouldn’t care about his book. Weird take.

Is it? This fall he'll get a significant boost in name recognition thanks to the Simon & Schuster marketing machine — which could conceivably attract higher-profile pro-group sponsors than he could score right now. Synergy!

You have it backwards. Coaching a pro group and having success at the USA championships would generate increased interest and sale of his book.
You literally think he is current purposely turning down pro coaching opportunities RIGHT NOW to wait until his book comes out after the season ends? That's crazy talk.

I hear you, and sure I might be wrong, but the counter-argument is this:
It's been a while since Newbury Park, and Brosnan's been in the wilderness a while. Right now the last thing on his resume is only lasting one year as a college coach. Come this fall, everyone will be talking about his high-school victories again, and the latest thing on his resume will be "bestselling author," presuming "Beyond Fast" gets "Running with the Buffaloes" numbers, which seems like a safe bet.
We have no idea what discussions he's currently having with pros behind the scenes. Thanks to the interview platforms he'll get via Simon & Schuster, he'll have multiple opportunities to say, "On top of this book about my coaching success, I'm excited to announce that I'm launching a pro group, One Athletics." Seems to me like that might up his profile in a way that could be advantageous, especially in terms of attracting sponsors, which may also be getting negotiated behind the scenes as we speak.
Also, off this book he's going to be able to leverage a whole side-hustle in public speaking engagements, coaching clinics, and "Beyond Fast" productivity seminars in CEO boardrooms and what have you — all of them paired with in-person book-signings. He's going to get in front of a bunch of new and possibly influential eyeballs over the next year. (You think the LetsRun boards are sick of hearing about this dude now...)

Simon / Schuster is a big deal. They don’t give small deals.
