Today I did 25min jog + 4 strides + 5min surge + 10min jog, all at Mackenzie Beach, again at very low tide, in bright sunshine, with hardly any wind. And again I went in afterwards. The surge was very controlled and cautious - and it felt very good. Aerobic Capacity at it's finest!
We have extended our stay here. We need this.
Today, I drove from Tofino to home, for a funeral, then drove back. It was also an opportunity for Matthew to have a "Mama" day, and for me to have a loud-music day. 6hrs in the car gave me a wonderful opportunity to explore my newest CDs, at the correct volume. (For those interested, Artists included NNCK, Kevin Drumm, Supersilent, and Nurse With Wound.)
Oh, and I didn't run today. (And subsequently, the world didn't end.)
Today I did 25min jog + 4 strides + 60sec surge + 10min jog, mostly at Chesterman Beach, at low tide, in warm sunshine, with very little wind. The weather conditions have been incredible during our stay here. The surge was somewhat faster than 800m pace. Tomorrow will be 800m at our track, maybe 2:26/2:27 pace, if anyone is interested? - warmed up by 4:30pm.
ran a 10K yesterday in Colorado, and 4.5 EZ today in Texas.
In Rome today:
Was going to go for a 20k or for a local 10k or anything of the likes, but instead the day was to be described as such:
a) plumbing work again 2 hrs
b) load the bikes on the car and go to this open "national bike day" with the family till mid afternoon. Fun yes but wanted to also go running...
c) take my mother to hospital emergency for a painful cyst that suddenly became very inflamed.
Describe no running today.

Today we came home (sigh) and I did 25min trail jog + (5x100m in 23-20-18-18-17 + 800m in 2:26) on the track in spikes + 10min infield grass jog in spikes.
This was the 2nd of at least 4 Sunday 800m sessions, with #4 being the Nanaimo meet. Last week was an ugly feeling 2:29.
200m/400m was 35/72 (just like last week), and it felt quite easy. 600m was 1:48 (1:50 last week), indicating that I sped up a little after 400m, and it felt ok...not great, but not bad. However, like last week, it is the last 100m where things seem to go downhill fast, and I finished struggling, indicating a slow last 200m (38 ). But it didn't feel quite as awful as last week, and a 72/74 split is much more encouraging than last week's 72/77 split (yikes).
It's amazing how things feel easy for 400m to 600m, then get bad real fast. I know this is an endurance problem, hahaha...chime in with your 50km per week comments now. But, I can do more 500m-600m and 1000m-1200m runs at good clip, and I think this will be helpful.
It's coming, and next week I'll try a 2:23/2:24. Last year (an off year for my running, I'm sure of it), all I was able to muster for 800m was 2:21-high at BC Masters in Nanaimo. Maybe I'll beat that at Nanaimo this year, then proceed from there.

Ha, ha! The only lie was by you saying you would run a sub-5 mile by the end of April. Not too surprising give your history of exaggerating your running accomplishments. And there was no slander unless you consider me referring to you as "self-centered", but everyone know that! Ha, ha!
Runnign Dogg, I'm a regular here, and I'll hide my identity for this post, maybe you'll understand.
I think you are being a complete jerk. Since when did skuj exaggerate his running accomplishments? And no, I did not realise that skuj is so self centered. he is however a very solid masters runner who did really amazing times (compared to me anyway) in his peak.
What is yoyr problem dude?
8 x 400 today. about 68 pace. recovery was jog 300 walk 100.
(Running dogg you are a dick.)
This is the same running dog who did thoswe b.s. super fast 800s way back then and asked for advice on what he can race, advice was given and then all hell broke loose, tons of deletions (which he actually counts on!!)....i hate yoy rd. How dare you say that someone else exagerates there training.
Skuj post on.

45' on Friday.....purposely kept it shorter after the recent 50+' runs.....gave the ole bod a little break.....plus had some DOMS in the lateral anterior portion of the lower legs.....likely caused by the hills on Wednesday's run.....back to flatland on Sunday for 59'......thought about going for the full 60 but there was a strong headwind on the out portion and wanted to save another accomplishment for this week.....30' out, 29' back over a slightly longer route....very minor, if any, calf stiffness/cramping.....life is good
Obv "Running God" is skuj (nice one!). I'd like to ask you Running Dogg how fast should one be running 800m before they can take a shot at a 5 minute mile? (I think 2:20-2:22)
As skuj would like to say, discuss. ;)
I might show up and pull my usual stunt of departing after the first run, hahaha....Matthew and I usually have serious business to attend to at 6pm ish, and I love my daily single surges......
I'm feeling slightly gung-ho, and wanting to run that Mile, from Country Roads start, to the corner of Rennison, in sub 5:20. We can check the km split (sub 3:20) on the way. A sub 5:20 Mile is a good training effort for me this week.
In case anyone else is feeling gung-ho too?
Today I did 25min jog + 4 strides + 30sec surge + 10min jog.
My hams are shot, hahaha. It's "2-day syndrome" from a walk we did through the rain forest to Schooner Cove, up and down many steep steps, with me carrying 35lb Matthew a lot.
I met Frankybitch at the wine store today, and he indicated that he will "race" me tomorrow. (Sub 5:20 Mile at CVRRTNW). Hopefully my hams are ok tomorrow Frank. But the goal for me is 5:19, not 5:09, or 4:59.
Step up to the bar and have another round of RDvs.skuj. People living in glass houses;///yada,yada,yada.

Today I did 25min jog + CVRRTNW dynamics and strides + 1 Mile + 7:34 (1 Mile) jog.
The Mile was 5:17....I wanted to go just under 5:20. I think I went out too fast though. After a few hundred meters I purposely slowed, but by the time I got to 1km (3:17) I was not feeling how I wanted to feel. The last 609.34m was ugly. I never realized until today how much slight uphill there is on HQ Road when you do this Mile. (Or was that just my imagination? Hahaha...)
Anyway, I need some easy days. That's what today told me.
