Pete's closer.
4,300-plus feet of elevation change this morning, with three big climbs. Beast.
From Facebook: "The date has finally been set: Kostelnick will run across the finish line at New York City Hall on Monday, October 24, sometime between noon and 8 p.m. His entire team will share in the victory."
What is his planned route in Manhattan?
You can see his planned route at:
https://share.delorme.com/PeterKostelnick
-- Click the "+" sign inside the white circle to see the red route. (in the left menu and to the right of his name "Peter Kostelnick"). When the "+" changes to "-" the route is shown.
- Pan over to Manhattan then zoom in.
More or less, along the western side (Hudson River), then into the southern end of Central Park, then down Broadway to City Hall.
thanks for the info and link.
Rob, in case you're reading, THIS is how it's done, you gutless, cheating, conman narcissist.
Way to go, Pete. An incredible achievement.
Will he continue a few more miles to get into NJ this evening? Probably less than 90 miles to go. Pete FTW!
Include Kaiha in that memo.

Indeed he did. NJ, just across the Delaware River. Stopping for the day now it seems.
I can not believe this guy's in NJ already.
Absolutely amazing.
He's coming within 2 miles of my house, so I gotta see if I can go check him out sometime tomorrow.
Congrats, Pete.
(Maybe we could get Robby Y to come meet him at City Hall. Ya know, so he can see what a *real* long-distance runner looks like.)
Pete just entered New Jersey in the last 20min.
Looks like he called it a day right across the border.
71.2 for today, I thought he might go for an extra ten miles or so today but looks like he's saving it for one big day. Makes sense as he can get to bed by 6pm today ET, and head out at midnight for a final push.
His last day will be 86.8 miles if he follows the planned route.
If he starts at midnight tonight, and runs 9:45/mi for 40mi, stops for 45min, then continues at 11:00/mi until he's done, he will finish just before 4pm.
4pm at NYC City Hall. that's my estimate, and I bet it's within an hour of that for sure.
hope that Tom Hanks heard about this and shows up
At the very least several people who will likely run with him to the end should dress up as Forrest Gumps. That would help with getting across traffic. Even NYC's notorious traffic would stop to let the parade of Gumps pass through.
After weeks of small towns, wide open roads and farm land, I hope his team is ready for crazy traffic and angry drivers. Welcome to the Garden State.
I have him at 90 miles to go.
I would be very careful approaching the NJ/GWB bridge area. The roads (and drivers) are hell.

Yes, the pedestrians and runners are always required to jump out of the way of cars in a hurry to get nowhere fast. At least that's what the drivers believe.
i was wondering about the traffic and stoplights and so on. Seems like that could seriously slow you down unless Chris Christie has a police escort or lane closings arranged.
Seeing as Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) was on SNL this weekend taking the role of moderator for debate 3 along with sniffling Alec "Trump" Baldwin panning Trump, Christie's hero, Christie is more likely to close the streets and reroute traffic from NYC to New Jersey.
