Because on this subject it is always alleged talent. Point out that an athlete's progression does not seem natural, and the default response is always "well they are just so talented that they can." So if say an athlete comes back from injury and significantly prs in the high 15:30s, then two weeks later prs again in the high 15:20s, then two weeks later prs again at 15:20, it is because the athlete must have the intrinsic natural ability to run 15:00 and they are undertrained. The same circular logic every time.
The necessary implication of this argument is that because they are under-trained they would therefore be even faster if they had been fully trained. That means Valby would have obviously run sub-18 in the xc if she had not been injured and run only 2 days a week. I guess that makes her a sub-14.20 5k runner already. Back in her school days, who would have thought?
She was not undertrained in hs or xc last year. Don't know where this myth is coming from that she has been a low mileage runner in general. Others on the board have said she was high mileage in high school.
She interviewed and said that she had a solid training block between xc and the feb races last year where she broke her foot.

It isn't suggested she is a low mileage runner in general. But she is apparently coming back from injury - which itself diminishes capacity and performance - and was then training with reduced mileage that in part was compensated for by cross-training. That is certainly "less than optimal".

People who think she's cheating are idiots. You still have to train when you're on drugs, you just recover faster. She's barely even been able to train over the last year or so. There's no chance she's even had enough time to get the benefits of drugs. She's just that talented. People saying she's doping have a weird mental disorder.

drugs will give you physiological benefits, whether ideal training or not. im not accusing, but think about what steroids, weight loss drugs, and epo do for the body. those systems are all enhanced from the person doing the same thing without the drugs. obviously you get more benefits the more you train, but you will get benefits on half time training as well.
and while im not accusing her, it is difficult to reconcile somebody showing their best fitness over a period of several months while recovering from injury and cross training. Something almost unprecedented outside of two kids over the past 18 months.
Can I just make a general comment about the discussion of PED's - please start a Thread directly related to the topic, so that those that want to discuss / debate can do so....and those that do not want to read/participate, do not have to see every thread filled end up being filled with accusations / insults (of course, this means above and beyond the normal level).
I'm not saying the topic does not have merit...but it does not need to continually bleed into every discussion regarding certain athletes. I get that LetsRun is a discussion thread for both positive and negative feedback, but this is a topic that people need to be careful not to take too far. These are amateur athletes...these types of discussions can be very damaging.
I get that this is an unpleasant subject, but it is the elephant in the room and people have started talking about it on YT and elsewhere. A runner shows red flags aand a very odd performance history while being hailed as new running sensation. Podcasters, accurately or not, project that she will shattter NCAA records and run times that pros will have trouble reaching. A YT provider produces a video about her alleged insane record. In that context you cannot avoid Solinsky's history, which clearly went far beyond thyroid medications, which are just precursors.
Again I have my suspicions but I am hoping we get a relatively clean race.
Me too. Unfortunately if KT is in the race it will not be clean :/

Like someone else said: go away, wanker.
I'll take that as that you have no counter argument. Thanks.
