I don't know how you can watch this interview and remain a fan of Galen Rupp

Accurate. Rupp, like his parents, is a naturally shy, gentle, humble person. Sure, he jokes around with his friends like we all do, it's just that in these press conferences situations he's never gotten over being a little nervous.

These runners come from all spectrums of our society, and they do not have a team experience ala teams sports or say, NFL players, where they might grow a more outward personality as sort of required by their individual sport. Running, as all true runners know, is mostly a solitary sport with a lot of insular thinking.

Salazar's main focus was to alway protect the athlete's health through proper recovery and preparation. It's the key innovative theme in all his coaching innovations. Ice vests? Crazy, not many athletes use them in extreme temperature environments. Cryosauna? Same thing. Common in NFL now. Underwater treadmills, same. Salazar innovated with all of these as an early adopter and promoter.

Let's Run has long been a place of character assassination for Rupp. Both of the Brojo's have refused repeatedly to answer if they have ever attacked Rupp in the past using anonymous handles, or supported those calling Rupp "gay," using anonymous handles. Anyone with a mature and logical brain can see the implication.

Let's Run has LONG been the Gray Area of journalism and if there were a WADA/USADA for online journalism, the Brojo's and their ilk would have long received a Life Time Ban.

So, they can enjoy this Pyrrhic "victory" in their several decade's witch hunt against Nike, etc., but deep inside when they look in the mirror they know they don't see good people.

There's not a single one of you haters out there that could have withstood the gay name-calling that Rupp went through in this sh*thole. And the Brojo's sanctification of it.

This is not only not a classy place for the sport, it is not a class place on the internet.

So, anonymous cowards, enjoy all the jerking of negativity soda's, you're still as*hats when you look in your mirrors each morning.

Rupp is and has always been a class act, despite the s-show that this site became...

It's a tough spot for him and it wasn't terrible. The one moment that did jump out is when he was asked if he knew Alberto was charged 2 years ago. The first time he was asked it he dodged. Cut the guy some slack. He’s a introverted runner not a public speaker. He gave a couple bad answers but overall he did a fine job and was professional and respectful. I hope he does well and will be pulling for him on Sunday. Go Galen!

Would you really want to be thinking about that before a race you've been preparing a year for? I don't think this calls for hate on Galen's part.

I hope Galen runs well also. Everyone is throwing around the term doping when we are talking about things like IVs, l-cartinine and their infusions, etc. NOP did use things like EPO, Testosterone, HGH, etc. They were pushing the pharma aspect of the sport and I think that we all knew that. It just makes Galen more like Ivan Drago and less like Rocky. A lot of runners are on some type of supplement, so I don't know where the line is exactly, but it just makes him a little less badass and a little more of a science experiment. I think most people prefer the runners who tend towards being badass and attribute their success to doing things entirely naturally. I personally am more inclined to think more of and actually read more about the rise of someone like Wejo given he has provided a roadmap that anyone can follow to running success. To "run like Galen" requires an alter-G, underwater pool runner, crazy supplements, etc.

I agree with this post. Some posters want drama and that's not what any runner needs heading into a race that has been their goal race after surgery. The poster is allowed to desire drama but Galen did the right thing for himself in that interview.

I was never a Rupp or NOP fan. I am highly suspicious of them.

However, the reporters were jerks here. I thought he handled himself well. I would not have been as nice as him about it.

He probably had the opportunity to listen to post WC interviews from Centro, Simpson, Engels, Hassan and probably learned that it is best to not say much. I would totally plead the 5th myself if I was in his position. That doesn’t make him guilty although I am on the side that he is a probably a cheat.

Poster boy for making it look like it isn't worth it to be a pro-runner. He is far from the only one. I wonder if Mary Cain was taking notes and simply chose what looked like a better path.

I just watched and listened to the interview. You stated Rupp REPLIED. Poster, you did not state Rupp answered all questions in an open and honest manner. Rupp is a T&F/road running/XC rule breaker. Let's get this correct, the regulation was created to police saline solution drips for hydration issues. Not any drug or "dope," and no "Dope" was tested, except your brain. An amino acid is a protein precursor, he was testing a recovery method he'd studied and got the minutiae of the amount of solution wrong. And there's a lot of minutiae in the WADA manuals.
