The difference is the current world record holder was born as a normal female. She took unhealthy amounts of testosterone. You can look at her now and you would never guess she looked like a man during her running days. Caster on the other hand naturally produces excessive testosterone on par with men.

I agree completely. People who feel sorry for Caster must have forgot that he won 2 olympic gold medals and 3 world champs gold medals in the 800 metres. He has a better resume than almost anyone in middle distance history even if he retired today.

I agree with the CAS ruling, I think the 800 will be better without athletes with elevated testosterone, and it will be fairer to the other competitors.
That said, I respect that Semenya has always played within the rules as they existed, and she's a great athlete and competitor. I also don't think that it's any tremendous injustice to normal-T athletes to have to compete just one more time against Semenya. This race isn't for a medal or a diamond league title. It's effectively an exhibition. And I'm sure now that the rules are going into effect, and the other women feel vindicated, they can afford to be a bit magnanimous in Semenya's last race.

Nope, when she was undergoing T suppression a few years ago her times dropped to 2-flat. It seems that on a level playing field she's just not that talented.
But the science says she'd run "7-seconds slower in the 800m" so seems like if she was on that T suppression she didn't fall into the "science estimate." I remember her getting Silver at London 2012, losing to a Woman.

Even though their limit is still far higher than normal women, I wonder if Caster's wife would support that. I wouldn't take the suppressant, it would change who you are.

She must have been expecting the possible outcome already last year. I do think she went all-out in several races in 2018. In any case the 1:54 in Rabat and Paris were not run with her frequent negative split but a more typical 55-56 first lap. I think she also seriously tried to get the 1000m WR but there it probably shows that she is more of a 400/800 type and she also had less experience over that distance.
In fact I'd be somewhat surprised if she ran faster in Doha than in Paris because she could have shifted her training already more to the longer distances.
A Semenya WR of last year would have been for good, like her 600m from Berlin 2017.
She did run an altitude converted 15:36 5k last week in championship race. That would be a strech for any true 4/8 female runners to do. Could you see Alysa Mantano or Jearl Miles-Clark or Molly Hudlow doing that?
