Okay #cleansport obviously you don’t know enough about running to post here. The alter g is chamber of septicity beyond anything else. It messes with your form and running at 99% BW gives you all the harms of the G with none of the benefits. It is clear that your glamorous 5k PR of 28:30 hasn’t given you nearly enough credentials or resources to run on an Alter G.

Im going to say the same about you as you pretend to know something about running or how to train. I guarantee my running and coaching is far superior to your little rants on letsrun you call knowledge!

You absolutely get benefits from running 99% on the Alter G. Have you ever trained with one? Your insults are comical and completely based on opinion with no truth.

Last time I checked AlSal and Rupp have done very well while running on 99%.

As an engineering working for AlterG, I can confidently say that our treadmill is not designed to be run at 99%. The whole idea surrounding the innovation is to take off weight to aide in injury prevention and coming back from injury. Running at 99% is essentially pointless, as it would only take off a few pounds. The AlterG is a great tool, but I do not understand why Galen Rupp mentioned running at 99%. I sure hope he misspoke!

Galen probably spends his Alter G runs squirming to try and avoid the wedgie and chafing that comes with wearing Alter G shorts for a long time. I’m sure he doesn’t like running on the G at 99% when he could be outside doing laps at 5:40 pace on his grass field at Nike

I don’t think you get it chief. The Alter G isn’t supposed to add body weight, it is supposed to get rid of it. There’s no 101%. If you want to practice running heavier, I suggest you hold some dumbbells while you run.

Attaching 1.4 lbs to your feet ("distal weight") has a greater impact than overall bodyweight since your feet are constantly accelerating. Weight on your feet has about 8 times the impact of weight near your center of gravity according to some estimates.

As for the other part of your question, could you attaching e.g. a 1.4 lb weight vest and feel no negligible effect? Sure, it might have an impact of ~10 seconds in a 5k, but as for training or structural impact on your body, it is negligible, so I agree with those who don't see the purpose of running on the alter G at 99%.

Well you float longer in the water during the flight phase while the treadmill keeps running under you. So that makes your stride length much longer when compared to normal running.
