I have to say I find this ironic as someone from Ohio who went out west and felt the same way by Californians/Hawaiians who were downright rude to me, almost condescending b/c of where I was from and wasn't wearing a trucker hat.

I have spent several weeks and traveled throughout the northeast numerous times including going to NYC more times than I can count.
Every time I've been there I have been somewhat repulsed by it. I can't imagine how someone would want to live there or tolerate the culture. Everyone is simply hustling for themselves, little to no regard for manners or the feelings of others, and a lot of times blatantly rude. The only appeal I can see is that there is always something to do and new places to be but it doesn't make up for living somewhere where the weather is constantly dismal. It literally looks like everything, the weather included, is the color grey. The Massholes are some of the most obnoxious people on earth.
Despite being a southerner I am left leaning by still enjoy the style of life in the south where everyone greets each other amicably and takes everything slower. I got scoffed at simply for asking a waitress in New York "Do y'all have sweet tea here". Someone please change my mind.
South Florida is basically NE USA. Were you from north florida or something? If not, you're no southerner.
No I also somewhat dislike SoFlo because of all the snowbirds who relocate. I live mostly in Jacksonville and Tallahassee. I can assure you it is the south. Maybe not as hick as bama or some other places but you can feel its the south.
I think that the entire northeast should be quarantined and then nuked. Seriously, they suck!

You obviously missed the North east in July....it beats florida every day of that month. Well actually the weather in the north east is pretty decent from the end of april to the end of october, I am not sure you can say the same of the south, where you are literally baking for those months. We also have no poisonous snakes/spiders, and many more sidewalks and walkable small villages, than the south which is just commercial districts and high speed multi-lane roads. I travel to the south often, and just finding a decent place to run that isn't paved is near impossible. In the northeat you don't have to go far to find a nice park with trails to run on. As for being in a rush, well I don't mind that, the south is TOO DAMN SLOW. OMG hurry up and do something already. We are more type A get it done type people and I like it. We also walk fast, because during winter your face starts to freeze if you don't hurry up.
Anyway, I basically disagree with every point you make, and finally I don't think southerns are friendly, they are just fake. In the north we are just honest.
I agree. The south and especially West are just fake. Northeasterners know what is going on and do not waste time. Everyone from the West seems like they are selling you some character. And the south is mostly about bullying people so you do not have to work hard. Or some country undeveloped crap that is just naive.
People in the southeast are very friendly to you.....if you're white and Christian.
What I like about being from the NE/mid Atlantic is that going other places in the country is kind of refreshing because of the change in the pace/atmosphere/people. I think a lot of people from NA/MA cities and metro areas have a degree of a Scepticism towards things (myself included) because if you’re gullible or too nice you’ll just get walked all over in life.
Rural Pennsylvania might as well be Alabama.
NYC, Philly, and Baltimore (technically not a northeast city but close enough) have a lot of angry people. Just stay away from those cities and you’ll be fine.
One nice thing about the NE is people are direct. Instead of "I was thinking, maybe, we could . . . ." people say "I want to . . ." and if the responder doesn't like he isn't wishy washy either "No, I don't want to do that"
To some this comes across as rude, but I like immediately knowing where someone stands.

Totally get where you're coming from. I was born and raised in New England though and I love it. I don't want my new neighbors coming around my house with baked goods, welcoming me to the area and getting all up in my business. I'd rather they just leave me alone. That stuff feels like "performative niceness" to me.
Sounds like a perfect win-win for everyone. Normal, decent people have no business living in the northeast. Leave that hell hole for them. It would be great if folks from the northeast stayed in the northeast, but they migrate south and west, which is a huge bummer for the rest of us.

So be white and Christian. You have half of that covered.

Direct is awesome. But people in the NE are miserable. That’s the problem. They spread their negativity and unhappiness, directly.
I am from the Northeast and I ABHOR it! I cannot wait to relocate to Florida. The weather, the people, the cost of living, the traffic...need I say more.
OP was clearly too DUMB to get out of dirty, rude NYC and visit Western NY

Ditto.
Didn't have time to read all the comments. To the original poster, why don't you move?
As soon as I hear a person say "y'all" I assume they never graduated middle school.

OP, my wife often complains about the fast pace and rudeness we experience in NY. However the weather isn't dismal we have four interesting seasons. Many snowbirds leave the northeast in the winter but many Floridians come north in the summer.
Let me add in my NY manner, if you dont like it here why do you visit so often and stay for so long?

These are facts. New Yorkers tell it like it is. Nobody has time for BS and anybody who has spent any significant amount of time in NYC has a BS-meter that is acutely tuned. Don't waste others time and they don't waste yours.
That being said, when there is a true crisis or somebody in need, you might be surprised at how many people shed their shell and actually do what's right.
From my experience there are plenty of other places (California and the South come to mind) where people will BS the niceties, but when things actually require action they are shown to be total fakers. As a NYer would say, those people can GTFOH!
The Northeast is awesome. Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Western Mass, Upstate New York are beautiful. The cities suck, but that's true everywhere. One thing I really like about the NE is how quickly people move. I like Southerners more, but they do things SO SLOWLY.
Trust me, we don't like you either.
