When you try to achieve in any sphere with eve the slightest academic content, you have to familiarise yourself with critical analysis. Most people in professional jobs, or studying at graduate level, have their work criticised and pulled to pieces. The aim is that you improve, due to peer review.

Now Alexi has chosen a very public field which guarantees a lot of public analysts and criticism. How do I say this without being termed “hateful”? There is a reason actors tend to be attractive or charamisnatic people, or both. On screen she doesn’t even hit quirky. Her screen presence is irritating, her voice and delivery annoying. I cannot work out why she didn’t get a proper actor to play her role in Tracktown.

The overall impression is that she wants to be the star of her own show. She isn’t good enough. She might make it as a writer or producer in time (if she can come with any original ideas) but there a lot of competition out there. But she isn’t going to make it as an actress.

She also has somewhat “avant guarde” facial features and from several angles looks odd. It isn’t “hateful” to point this out- some if the best actors in the world need to be shot from the right angles. It’s odd that Alexi, if she is so invested in film making as a career, developed the self awareness to appreciate this.

If she worked on her public persona a little more, if she came across as modest, self depreciating, funny, she might be more likeable. As it is, there is something about her public persona that irritates and alienated people. If she really wants to build a career in a field which depends heavily on public likability, she has to deal with this.

Finally, I read on here in a previous post a list of her achievements, which appears to be the standard response by her fan on here. One of them was “essayist”. Now, what is that? It’s meaningless! She is not published academically in peer reviewed journals, she has not written books, she is not a journalist. Many however have.

You cannot force people to like someone. Likability comes from within. Simply telling people how wonderful a rather odd looking, slightly talented woman is is going to attract ridicule. Like anyone in any sphere, she needs to work hard and improve, use the criticism to do so, and develop a little humility and insight.

Her acting in Tracktown is unwatchable. Her voice and delivery are terrible. I have no idea how this unoriginal work got so much publicity, but she should be thanking whatever diety she believes in, and her fans should stop alienating people by attacking them.

I cannot think of one job all the talented people I know could do where whining that constructive criticism is “hateful” would be tolerated. Unfortunately, you can tell that Alexi isn’t going to make it big in any sphere, because she doesn’t have the ability to improve beyond a certain level.

And where and when is LoneStarXC's indoor season debut? No doubt her adoring public, both of them, are waiting with baited breath to find out.

You are neither her peer nor a credible critic. Nor are any of the LRBFs who start threads like this or flock to them to tear down any "man in the arena."

Did any of you who are defending the movie actually watch it? I'm pretty neutral to her (or, I was, before watching the movie) and I thought it was horrible. I've seen the cheesy running movies like Saint Ralph/Across the Tracks and those look like Oscar winners in comparison. Seriously, the acting is BAD. And she makes it a plot point to count how many slices of lunch meat she'll allow herself on sandwiches. That side explored more, would actually have been a good commentary on eating disorders in TnF. Instead, it kind of glorifies it, and her major "breakthrough" moment is she allows herself to eat a cookie at the end while looking at herself in a mirror. This is the morning after having a really awkward sex scene. I believe Becca Friday and Nick Symmonds are dating on-screen randomly at one point too. The narration is basically a cut and paste of Rupi Kaur's

She's a great example of mediocrity becoming mainstream.

Her endeavors show that with the right networking you don't need talent, taste, or creativity to make a movie.

At first glance, its a nice thought to think that she's doing something that inspires her creatively, but as you watch you begin to realize that creativity has nothing to do with it. Its more like she took a poop and for some reason was really proud of herself and decided to share it with everyone, and it seems at this point everyone is pointing out to her that hey " we all poop, nothing special"

What's most instructive is her firmness in continuing to pursue this route. It reflects running in so many ways.

First, it allows her to not have to get a real job. Second, it's an activity meant to keep children distracted.

Why adults decide to espouse themselves entirely to running or any other sport is itself comical. Entertainment is equally as tragic

Does anyone know how athletes/mercenaries and administrators came to be? Through excess. This turned into a tangent. Short and skinny: papas has no creativity, probably because she grew up with a screen in front of her face and was never forced to use her imagination.

This is the real thrust behind AI. For years the government has been nurturing us to become elite consumers, big appetites with little self control. As a consequence, we are one dimensional pleasure seeking mongoloids. We are stupid and for the most part useless. They know stupid fatties won't do all future work, so they create AIs to do so.

Most Americans don't see this clearly and that because their entire life is built on a lie.

In what part of history has an elite group of individuals willing relinquished it power, there isn't one.

So consider, our founding fathers, for the most part wealthy merchants and slave owners, did not have any but their own interest in mind when establishing a democratic-REPUBLIC in the americas.

If you accept this truth then it isn't a giant leap to then say that since it's inception U.S policy has worked to improve the lives of an elite few rather than civilization as a whole

There are so many bad movies, and a person's first movie is always rough...it takes years to develop a craft.

I was forced to watch Tracktown because I didn't have a charged iPad on my AA translatlantic flight. It was done ok - it seems her husband has some idea on what to do behind a camera, but damn, she is annoying and vapid. Her voice is bad - reminding me of Natalie Portman's grating voice. She can't act, or deliver a line in a good cadence. It was like I was watching a low class Miranda July who tries really hard to be quirky like she grew up and worshipped Wes Anderson films and the "Look at how clever I am!" motif throughout his films (and other NYC indie films.)

Like pappas I too prey on high school girls, mainly because they are naive and vulnerable. But that's a whole different subject.

Your assertion that she is a good role model is indeed accurate but only if you think things are perfect exactly the way they are.

To my mind she's a disciple of the kardashian/Hilton model. This model consists of self-exploitation, often referred to as self-promotion, traditional wisdom against hubris notwithstanding. Sometimes, this model consists in performing pornography. How this model can be called anything short of prostitution is beyond me, but I assume it has something to do with hypocrisy.

Yeah this seems right. The camera work was proficient. The writing and acting on the other hand, unbearable. I’m no fan of the twee indie genre that emerged in the mid 2000s—it’s way too precious and cutesy—but I’ve laughed a few times in a Wes Anderson film and I could see how lots of people found them funny and insightful. Tracktown had absolutely zero funny or insightful moments, even in its chosen genre. There was an almost mechanical quality to the dialogue. Seriously, the screenplay is the one thing in a low-budget indie that should stand out, since it can make up for an otherwise low production value, but this movie couldn’t achieve that.
