The Jorgensen hype-train has been absurd and obnoxious, and looks more so after today. She has been stoking the engines for a while now with her absurd talk of Olympic gold and being in 2:19 shape. I like BTC, but the decision to associate with and promote Gwen so heavily when there are other much more promising and deserving American marathoners out there is not a good look for this otherwise all-star operation. I am glad that Gwen seems to have formed a bond with the amazing women on that team, but the rest of us are left wondering why we should care about this person's career relative to other rising stars. Would be easier to take if pitched as a sports cross-over "experiment" rather than treating her as this real threat to the top ranks of U.S. marathoning. Just seems an insult at a time when U.S. women's marathoning is so promising and exciting.
You ripped pretty hard on Gwen, but what about Alexi? Alexi hypes just as bad, and sells posters of herself for $100 on twitter.
She bombed and ran 2:43:48. I can buy Lil Kim posters for like $9 online, and I'd much rather look at a poster of her on my wall.
I just hope Wejo gets her d-bag coach's typical whiny excuses on a youtube interview.

The Greek record of Maria Polyzou lives for another day. Alexi seemed to start going bad just after 15K. Steady 18:00/5K pace to that point and then:
15 to 20K: 18:27
20 to 25K: 19:27
25 to 30K: 19:46
30 to 35K: 20:51
35 to 40K: 21:36
Hope she is doing okay today.
