B test Lagat and El G both slow over 800m. Don't waste time in fast last 800m in a 1500m just shows unatural endurance.

Interestingly, Ian Stewart said somewhere he'd seen Mo time trial and he did 1:45, Lagat has done 1:46, and I saw El Guerrouj run 1:47. Certainly El Guerrouj had unreal/unnatural endurance. The other two yes but slightly less.

THAT DOES NOT MAKE HOULIHAN A SECRET 1:55 800m athlete! If Houlihan believed she were capable of racing 1:57.50 800m, Shelby Houlihan would be an eight hundred metres runner.

The 800 is well-known as the least dopable event in track. 1500 is extremely dopable. (Think relative contributions of aerobic system/hematocrit/EPO.) The ratio of the two is useful to look at and 1500 less than double 800 time is notable. Not unusual for a slow endurance workhorse, but very odd for the kind of runner who does 55 as a high school girl.
A 1500 time *five seconds* faster than double 800 time? Absurd. Boosted blood. Noah Ngeny. El G. Lagat.
Ever consider these guys just didn't run an 800 seriously? And Houlihan hasn't run an 800 this year that I'm aware of. I think she will break 2 next time she runs one.

What made the training better so that the racing could be better?
That is something I wish reporters would address different because it's not an attack on someone's personal character to question their performance. It's simply saying "hey, a LOT of people have cheated in the past and that rubs fans the wrong way. Could you tell us how this breakthrough happened so we can get behind you?"

I'll say that I would be absolutely shocked if it came out that Shelby Houlihan is doping.
But for anyone to claim definitively that "Athlete X is definitely not doping" is ludicrous. The only person who can truly know whether an athlete is doping or not is the athlete themselves.
As for why Houlihan has made a breakthrough this year, she has been asked about it numerous times and has always answered the same way: she has been in Schumacher's system for three years now, has continually worked to build her endurance, and has basically never been injured. Add in her incredible natural speed (remember, she ran 55.xx to win the Iowa state meet as a high schooler) and I can absolutely believe she's doing it clean.
And it's not as if she was some spare before 2018. Remember, she made the USA 800 final as a junior in college in 2014 (same year she won NCAAs in the 1500 with a savage kick), made the Olympic team in 2016, and beat out Molly Huddle and Shannon Rowbury to win USAs in the 5k last year.
Oh come on, I could do a 56s lap but never got a whiff of 4.00. 55.xx is NOT fast forher 1500m time.

She had had plenty of opportunity to go sub 2. It's a red flag. Nothing more but sub 4 is harder than sub 2. It's not evidence obviously just worrying. I mean look at that 1500m in London OG. Half busted for doping . Take those out and you see how hard it is to go sub 4 clean.. if she was from another country you'd be more suspicious. Same as me with Muir it's just bias
