Two Kenyan schools competitors sub 23 for 8k xc presumably at altitude! That's usually better than any regular season NCAA competitors and the ages are probably comparable to possibly somewhat younger for the Kenyan secondary school athletes.
Central Park 10k is not a fast course at all, constantly up or down, but it must be said that the hills are very much conquerable for athletes used to mountain running. That being said, I'd be shocked if Kipruto were not able to run at least in the 26:40s on the track this summer if he takes the opportunity.
They're men into their twenties, no doubt from that picture, and running clean is unlikely as well running times like this right out of the box in Kenya with no gradual progression to world beating times but it doesn't matter because Kipruto in particular is the present and will be very tough to beat on the track at 5 and 10 if he has a kick.

NYRR is scrupulous about course distances. This exact course has been run for many years. It's not a short course. In fact, with all the curves (not to mention hills), it's certainly long, plus the 10m short-course buffer.
Anybody talking about the course is just trolling. It was measured by David Katz who is one of the world's best measurers.

I have to agree with El K. -Rhonex Kipruto is the real deal, and he most likely is no older than 18, as per "official" records.
Cynics will claim that corruption in Kenya can get you anything you want, incl. false birth records, but in this case Rhonex is for real.
He won the All Africa under 20 champs. this past winter in Algeria, and beat the best that Kenya, Ethiopia, Eretrea, Morocco, Algeria, etc. had to offer.
Rhonex is the future.

Their race results were posted above. Wouldn't you normally expect years to getting close to world record level? It took Bekele and El G and Lagat and many other greats years of competitions to get to that level.

Why would age cheating be rife in the Africa under 20 Champs., when they are all on the same playing field.
In addition, Rhonex is a product of Irish/Kenya coach Colm, who would have too much to lose by aiding age group cheating.
Conclusion, no evidence, beyond heresay, that Rhonex Kipruto is an age group falsifying cheat.
Remember, in Kenya/Uganda/Ethiopia, etc., many of the juniors, age 15-18 are already at a phenomenal aerobic level, thanks to lifestyle, genetics, and the emulation.factor of having innumerable role models in their community.
