A lot of really solid picks on here.
Around the year 2000, my wife and I decided to watch as many of the AFI top 100 of the first 100 years of film as possible.
Solid additions from that list that haven't been mentioned
Hud with Paul Newman (1960?) I believe
Rear Window (1954) My personal favorite from Hitchcock.
I'd like to add
Life is Beautiful (1997)
blues brothers and caddyshack, 1980. best movies of all time.
for me, it's Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
Great
The below amuses me because I have opinions about most of these movies [indicated below] and depresses me because it reminds me that I just don't have much of any opinion about movies nowadays.

1994 was the best year for movies
Shawshank Redemption--have seen it on TV/video; amusing enough but not great.
Pulp Fiction--saw it in a theater + again on video/TV; Tarantino's best in my experience
Forest Gump--saw it in a theater; walked out when it started "gumping" AIDS
True Lies--saw it in a theater; HATED it
The Professional--oh please. Happened to see the French original in the fall of 1981 when I was an exchange student in Villenueve-sur-Lot. You can google it. I can't imagine why it was remade in English but Belmondo was great in the French version even though the script was lame. "Qui le stoppera? Moi, moi, je le stopperai" was the focal point of the French preview iirc. Dismal dialogue, but Belmondo could make anything seem cool back in the day.
Dumb and Dumber--have seen a few scenes on TV. Never would have considered watching it back in the day but might well find it amusing now.
Natural Born Killers--saw it on video, thought it was very disturbing, very well acted, and very good.
Clerks--saw it on video. Thought it was very good at the time but have a pretty negative opinion of it now.
Interview with the Vampire--saw it on video and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I don't have a high opinion of Tom Cruise as a person, but I have to admit that the guy is a genuinely talented actor.
Legends of the Fall--I think of this movie as well known and yet I personally have never seen it and couldn't even tell you what it's about.
The Mask--saw it on video; enjoyed it more than I expected to.
The Crow--I believe I saw it on video and found it disturbing in part because of the movie itself and in part because of the fate of the leading actor.
Speed--saw it in a theater and enjoyed it WAY more than I expected to. [Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves may not be the world's best actors, but what they do they do well.]
Four Weddings and a Funeral--saw it in a theater. Thought it was fine but overrated.
Ed Wood--saw it on video; fine but maybe not quite as good as its reviews imho.
Clear and Present Danger--I think I once knew what the heck this movie was about and may have even seen some/all of it but have not actual recollection of it now.
The Lion King--never seen it. I know MANY people love it, but I still have no interest.
Ace Ventura (Jim Carey was busy)--have seen a few scenes on TV at random. No particular interest in seeing it, but I'm guessing that at this stage of my life I'd enjoy it fine if I did.
Disclosure--see "Clear and Present Danger" above.
Reality Bites--have never seen any of it but feel like I owe it to myself to watch it now for a whole host of reasons
1. High Plains Drifter (1973)
2. The Godfather (1972) & Godfathher II (1974)
3. The Dirty Dozen (1967)
4. Patton (1970)
5. The Misfits (1960)

Never saw the actual movie but saw the preview MANY times and have etched in my memory the U-boat captain (?) screaming "Schneller, SCHNELLER!!!"
Maybe I'll watch it on youtube one of these days.
Valley Girl
Coming to America

The Internship (2013)- Two aging Gen-Xers lose their sales jobs and become interns at Google -- hilarity ensues.
It is an underrated comedy that has a nice story arc (not just a series of jokes).
I think that was the sequel to Wedding Crashers.
Of Mice and Men, (1992)
Hollywood Knights, 1980
Hard to decide on just one but one of my definite favorites, that still holds up really well, was: “Wag The Dog” from 1997.
Patton 1970
Bladerunner 1982
Pan's Labrynth 2006
