As long as the kid is enjoying it and he/she is healthy, there is nothing wrong with it. there are many kids who play two sports all through youth, and they go to practice kicking and screaming. If any thing, that is much worse. Would you rather the kid play video games all day and night? As long as the running is kept in check, the kid likes what he is doing, and he is healthy, there is nothing wrong with it.

If these kids are enjoying themselves, what's the big deal? They are just running; the purest sport out there.
There are 9 and 10 year olds all over the country running into each other in helmets and pads getting their bells rung. Even the soccer and lacrosse kids can get some pretty intense collisions.

Wait what! In the 3k he went from 11:37 to 10:38 in ONE year! I ran 11:35 January Last year and my PR is STILL 11:28 only! Nearly been 2 years for me since then!
What da kind of training he does to get sooo fast in a year?
He will be racing Lauren in the youth 3k at Footlocker. I give Lauren the nod by 15 seconds.

The 3K races were cross country so the 11:37 was likely on a tougher course.
The 17:38 was on a fast 5K XC course.

soccer is a 12 month sport now. I am lucky to get some soccer kids on the track, but forget about cross.
