Breaking: IAAF/British have BARRED Isaac Makwala from competing in 400 final because he's sick

Damn the IAAF lied and said that the Botswana team's medics and officials were present during the examination, but they were not present!

Also the botswana staff stated that his temperature and blood levels were normal.

Exactly, you don't recover from Norovirus in a day. It's an extended period of vomiting and you can't control it. The IAAF executive need to consider their futures

All the IAAF is doing is is giving themselves a really bad name, and they're taking down Van Niekerk in the process ( It's pretty obviously he probably has nothing to do with this, but Tabloid love their BS stories, and plenty of people are dumb enough to believe them)

The IAAF statement says that the Botswanian team including the doctor were in the tent during the medical examination and they are on the BBC now saying they weren't, what on earth.

Suddenly anyone who throws up before an event is banned? Good thing the NBA didn't have this rule back when Bill Russell was dominating.

There is no good reason to keep this athlete from competing.

Very odd. Seems to be a stitch up to keep him out of his races. Guess that opens up medals for other people... He must be gutted. If only he came from a more favored/powerful country I suspect he wouldn't be in this position.

this is called inept, incompetent, useless, .......... document these people`s names, call for their dismissal from at least the IAAF, while we figure out how to dismiss the entire IAAF

If it's norovirus then there is no way he should be allowed to set foot in a stadium with 60,000 people... but with the outbreak going on there's probably no additional harm to be done in letting him in since there will be loads of contagious carriers already there (just yet to show symptoms).

Clearly though he doesn't have norovirus or he'd not even bother turning up to try and enter the stadium, he wouldn't need a doctor to tell him he's too sick.

So what's happened? Well there's a theory that IAAF want to promote their new golden boy (free to dope at will) Wade Van Niekerk, taking out Makwala is quite convenient...

A bit of commonsense would go a long way here but it seems the powers that be have decided.

Athletics need rivalries and the IAAF know this. Banning rivals to favourites would be a new low if true. I doubt this however. I think it runs deeper.

Pathetic if this is norovirus. Let the man run if he is willing. Its not a fatal illness even if he did infect anyone else. Its a nuisance that affects some badly and some less so (though it is usually pretty unpleasant).

Last time I had it, it was only vomiting and I felt horrible for about 16h. No way I could have run anything. But recovery was quick after that.

The other thing is, recovered persons shed virus for some time which is how it spreads so easily. Everyone avoids sick people, its hard to know who had norovirus last week.

The point is, surely there are other infectious people in the stadium.

The stakes are high, let him run! Its worth the risk, imo. You hear about guys playing ball with the "flu" or whatever which is far more of a risk (of infection and a serious threat).

This is a 12-24h of barfing. Big deal!

I have also had it. I couldn't imagine leaving the toilet (stuff coming our both ends) for a day, and then hardly enough energy to move out of bed next two days. I don't care how much of a competitor is, if Makwala had it there's no way he'd be trying to run.
