It's rare. They don't allow Makwala to run the 200m heats/400m final. But why they (medical staff) allowed other athletes to compete in their events? Like the German Triple Jumper. Or Elaine Thompson.
Are they favoring Van Niekerk because they need another athlete as the IAAF face, now that Bolt will be retired?
Breaking: IAAF/British have BARRED Isaac Makwala from competing in 400 final because he's sick

What are you talking about? I thought ht was just sick and no competing. YOu are right. They are banning him from competing.
But it's not the IAAF. It's the UK.
In my mind, the race needs to be postponed.Or let him compete with like a Rupp type face mask.
BBC wrote:
IAAF spokeswoman Jackie Brock-Doyle told BBC Sport: "It's a sad case but we have to follow process for the health and well-being of all athletes.
"All processes have been followed, clear statements released and very clear guidelines issued to team managers and doctors on Sunday.
"We can't go into details of athletes' conditions. It's better the statements and Public Health England statement stand."

If that is true, then my mistake. But it was reported that the IAAF( bbc reporting live) was behind the ban, and that THEY ARE NOT GOING TO LET HIM IN THE STADIUM.
Or is the IAAF just following the recommendation of the UK? Either or it does make sense, and it sounds fishy.

Also, your link states this:
"The 30-year-old, who was also pulled out of the 200m heats on Monday, was withdrawn by organisers the IAAF "due to a medical condition".
That sounds like the IAAF banned him from the event as I stated.
I'm just trying to understand what are the protocols since no testing has been implemented to see if he is actually infected. How can a ban be placed on an athlete with no testing and no symptoms, since the athlete appears to be fine, and stated that he is fine. -
This is crazy!!
Free Makwala!!!

Great journalism.

PS. I've changed the title. It was this initially, "IAAF is a dirty, dirty organization. The Makwala situation proves that." -
The athlete has not been tested, and he stated that he is healthy and feels fine. However, he is being quarantined from appearing on the track, but he is still staying in the hotel with other athletes and officials.
If the IAAF does not correct this, then it is clearly a favoritism move to prevent anymore upsets, or to allow Wayde to have an easy race.
This is not proper protocol. -
Damn, Makwala went to the stadium and was blocked off by security! They voided his accreditation. This is nuts
-
No worries. That's fine.

Here is the official statement from the IAAF.

Incompetence more than dirtiness. Dirtiness is what allows athletes like Bolt, Dibaba and Ayana compete unscathed.

i wish van would say he will not run unless they let makwala in! enough of the bullsh*t bureaucrats ruining things!

So they are a following a recommendation, Not a law?
Haven't other athletes been able to perform, who have had symptoms?
Now, the conspiracy theories are going to shoot off...was he intentionally targeted? -
Makwala isn't the only one. Some women were blacklisted in the 200m as well.
The shithole that is London strikes with a vengeance. -
Bad news: He is not fit enough to run.
Good news: He can get a job at Chipotle. -
Public Health England are not the police and their recommendations are general, cautious guidelines not laws! The 48h recommendation is to stop schoolchildren infecting their classmates, restaurant workers infecting customers etc. It's not meant for an elite athlete running for less than a minute in an open-air stadium. Trying to pass the blame on to PHE is nonsense. Besides, norovirus is unpleasant but it's not bloody Ebola…

If this was a Brit or an American, lawyers would get an injunction. I want the other 400 runners to BOYCOTT. -
I wrote this in the main thread.
Intead of asking ourselves, WWJD, I think the question should be "What would we be doing if this was Usain Bolt?
1) I think he would not be banned. At most , the race would be postponed.
2) I don't think the other competitors would race if he was banned. -
This is the real reason. Outrageous!
-
Now the head of Botwana athletics is on the BBC saying he was fine and had actually warmed up for the 200 yesterday before being told he could not compete. What the hell is this.
-
He's back at the hotel now. Mixing with other athletes.
