In her interview she said she was planning to hurdle with alternating legs, but her timing was thrown off because the pace was a little slow.Not hard to believe, because once your timing is thrown off it is hard to get it back, but yes, it was painful.

It's a judgement call. Nothing that I see in that tweet makes it obvious that he didn't step on the back - or am I missing something??

Being a non-thrower, I'd think moving forward they should either put like have 10 cameras on that baby and allow video replay or stop calling touch fouls. One or the other.

Any throws experts have an opinion?

As far as I know they are going to change the rules for the next season so that throws like Crouser's will be ok. I think it's a very good idea.

I hate to be that guy, but doubling the 1500 and 5000 didn't help, either. At best, it was a needless distraction in a year when both fields are very competitive.

Even so, this seems to be the race where anything really can happen!

I was at the track when she did her indoor 5000m in the winter and she was in stunning form. But of course August was the most important time to peak so if she isn't in that shape now she's going to be in for some criticism no doubt. January seems like a bloody long time ago.

I'd still like to see his foot on the ground. It looks like it's over the ground. This is from the BBC. If he stepped on it, it was right around the 100 meter mark when the video wasn't really showing them very well.

But it looks like I may have made the first mistake of my career.

True, but I was talking about it being a distraction over the last few months. Even if training to double didn't affect her actual fitness for either race, I could see it disrupting her mental preparation. And for all the reasons the Scot listed, she already had plenty of disruptions and distractions.

Given the state of competition in both races, it'll be hard to know if doubling was a good idea or not. It's possible she could run her best and still not medal. So maybe doubling up just doubles her chances of medaling in a year where these races are more crapshoots than usual.

It will be a fun race to watch. I have no idea who I would bet on.
