Symantics.........The question should be is True, Jenkins and Hill equal to Chelimo. One poster made claim that Chelimo (because he is Kenyan born) denied True a Third place finish. That opinion was predicated on the perceived dominance of Kenyan talent over our home grown base of talent. The US hasn't won an Olympic 5000 medal with home grown talent since 1964, and stil hasn't since Chelimo is Kenyan born. His dominance over the American field has been on display since the USA's last year. So, it appears that Chelimo's level playing field is on the World stage against the likes of Mo and Dejen.

Key words in my posts were perceived and appears, which are subjective. Ben True and Jäger both have had successes against World Class competition. However, starting with 2016 outdoor USA Championships, Chelimo has been the top American 5000 performer in Championship caliber races I.E. 2016 USA's, Rio, 2017 indoors and the USA 5000 last night. You can't deny his dominance in this year's indoors and outdoor Championships. But that doesn't mean True, Jenkins or Hill are not his equal in talent. They all ran world class times, but times don't win Titles. So, the 2017 USA 5000 Title goes convincingly to Chelimo, and he sure appeared dominant in that race.

Actually, paul waxed Mo out on the grass and mud a while back. Try to pay better attention.

What happened to Rupp in this race?

You realize he was only 3rd at USA nationals last year, and was second behind Hill indoors.

His Olympic performance was obviously no fluke, but it's only in 2017 that he's left the others in the dust.
