You can still get more than enough football without Sunday Ticket/Red Zone Channel, or anything else.

AND, football is massively more popular than track and field.

To make it where the only way to watch anything was to shell out $70, is not going to grow the market.

When Universal Sports was a free channel, I had friends(that were not t/f fans) that would watch and comment on how cool the races were, and saying they enjoyed the channel.

When it moved to being a pay channel, they were done.

The pay channel will help the networks decide where they want to put their money

T&F is not one of the place.

That being said, TV channels will evaporate in the same way that newspaper did in the past 20 years. They probably still have a 20 to 30'year run however.

T&F is way overpriced, yeah some of us will pay because we love this sport so much, but we also think of how it hurting the sport and not helping it grow.

I can watch every single game Real Madrid play for free online, but have to empty my wallet to watch a early season track meet, just pathetic....

Agreed!!! And people wonder why no one watches T&F. Maybe because no one has access to it!

As for pricing of the TV package, a reference point is the NFL Sunday ticket. It is $300 for the season if you are not a new subscriber or want to spend countless hours haggling with the cable company.

I do agree with others that USATF or NBC should sell the rights/show the meets during late and early TV filler times. The NFL network does a great job of featuring shows such as the 10 greatest running backs of all time. NBC and USATF should feature shows such as "The Greatest Olympic 1500 Finals" with race footage and background interviews.

The comparison for Sunday ticket isn't a good one as the Sunday Ticket gives you stuff you don't get on TV. Most of the stuff on gold is stuff that is already on tv if you get NBCSN and Universal.

If $70 or $2 per trackmeet is emptying your wallet, then you should be finding a job not watching track meets. You are the example of why track ia not free like soccer is. You have no money to spend on the advertiser so why would advertisers pay enouh to make it totally free to watch? This is not a charity.

Alright already, enough quibbling about the $. USATF membership in my opinion gives you nada, access to some meets like this would make it worthwhile. Meet is about to start & for the tens of us on here who care, could you folks with access please give as descriptive a blow by blow as possible. (Temps, wind, splits, packed house or not? - better be SRO for those ticket prices & capacity)

Think about how screwed up our sport is. Imagine how much the Track Town Summer Series would pay to have Mo Farah battle Centro at 1500. Even a Diamond League meet. Instead, the guys are willing to do it for free as this is basically practice.
