Do you find it a little awkward to pass other runners or people joy riding on their bikes during your runs?

When I approach/pass a runner/walker from behind, I give an audial advance warning by horking up a packet of lung butter

I grew up in a smaller town. Not many people were out running or on a bike, so it felt a little awkward passing them. But now I've been in larger towns or cities where a lot more people out and it just feels normal, not awkward at all.

I used to be really overweight and when I was running 12 minute miles on the street desperately trying to shed the pounds and get fit, it used to discourage me a lot when people used to breeze by me.

I am in good shape now and my training pace ranges between 7-9 minute miles and over the last few weeks since there are lots of new overweight runners trying to get in shape because of new year, I found myself overtaking a lot of these people and I feel damn awful about it because I kmow what it was like to BE in that position.

i totally agree with you guys about when doing fartlek...feels like trying to show off but cant handle it. lol

And also the part where you somehow end up more or less the same pace as someone else.

In my town people don't really like runners. Mostly people walking their dogs. They may think the dogs get upset when a runner passes. Because of this most people fart if a runner tries to pass by them. They actually purposely build up farts all day, so when a runner happens to pass them, they let out a really loud fart. They also instruct their dogs to do this as well. Most runners know this, and most of them choose to give a wide berth when passing, but some of them pass very close and let out their own farts.

I avoid other runners whenever possible. I find a lot of them rude (that's just people in general). I always avoid popular routes.
