Ryan Hall has ran his last marathon ever, in 5:15:34... disappointing or just me?

Pretty surprised his last marathon was so slow, but he completed the challenge, which, as someone mentioned earlier, many people didn't think he would do. So, who cares?

ignore his last marathon...the 6 marathons in the 6 days before his last one were 3:26, 3:06, 3:15, 3:41, 3:04 and 3:46....

running a 3:04 on completely trashed legs, 2 hours of average sleep the days before and obviously way too much bodyweight for a runner while most certainly not going as hard as he could because of 2 marathons coming up in the next 48h and all of that on a ridiculously low amount of training mileage....

that is damn impressive!!!!!!

You realize that 5'10, 160-170lbs is not really detrimental to regular guy running performance? He still looks like a runner. A stocky runner, but still a runner.

In my competitive days I was 5'6" 143lb, so a BMI of 23.4.

If Hall is still around 165lb at 5'10 his BMI is 23.7.

Is Ryan Hall just an idiot?

Stops the elite sport because he seemingly ran his body into the ground with excessive over training. He reported he couldn't even make dinner or some shit cause he was so weak.

Starts lifting weights, eating right and and recovering. Becomes a healthy person.

Rounds off running with 7 marathons in 7 days and crawls across the final line in over 5 hours like and absolute wreck. Will take him months maybe a year to recover properly from this.

Is this guy just stupid or what?

Given he was only running up to 30 miles a week to prepare for this and he retired from professional running due to chronically low testosterone/fatigue, I'm not surprised nor disappointed. I'm glad he did it and did it on his terms. And I do believe he will run another marathon, just for enjoyment. Also, Mike Wardian is a really outstanding person as well as runner, and I was not at all surprised by what he was able to do. An incredibly talented runner who has mastered the art of recovery. Congratulations to both of them!

Brah. Really? Ryan Hall was done with the marathon as soon as he picked up his first dumbell. I, for one, never expected or even wanted him to make a big marathon comeback. The dude is way happier, healthier, and better-looking now that he is JACKED. I think his time is impressive considering he had tin-man style legs after doing 6 marathons in 6 days before! Ryan Hall just proved that he is A-grade SPECIAL FORCES material being able to withstand the grueling punishment of high-intensity endurance events coupled with minimal sleep and jetlag. HOOYAH.

I can't say I'm disappointed, but I am surprised. I've walked the marathon distance under five hours--several times--so it's hard for me to figure how a guy who *could* run (at least part of the way) took over five hours to finish.

I say disappointing. I'd prefer him to taper properly and run 2:30 for his last one. He was over the Oprah line. How can any running fan not be disappointed!

Take a scrawny Olympic marathoner, and with the aid of Muscle Milk, he gets a jacked-up, ripped bod. Muscle Milk must love him.

Having read all the way through the story, I think it's kinda cool. He has always marched to his own drummer. He likes to put a positive spin on things that other people--especially LR pundits and my 10 year old son--would prefer to opine snarkily and gloomily about.

He didn't DNF his last race. That's a good thing. No ego. He lived the slog. He knows all sides of the marathon now: good, bad, ugly.
