Jim just smashed the CR at the Lake Sonoma 50 this year with a 6:00. A race where 14:03 5km runner Tim Frericks ran 6:17 for a distant second place. Also Sage (6:12), Rob (6:12) , Zach Miller (6:11) and Alex Varner (6:09) have all competed in that course and those times were previous CRs. It was 41 minute improvement for Jim from last year (6:41).Walms is at a totally different level right now!

He flops really hard when something happens while racing head-to-head against competition. Even Sage didn't flop as hard as he did. Two epic meltdowns when it counted.

He wasn't facing Sage/Krar/Miller/Laney/Tollefson/King at Lake Sonoma, so no pressure.

The guy is a no pressure time trialist and workout champ- not a competitor who fights when it gets hard. Until he actually wins big, I stand my ground.

For the record, he's kicked my butt every time we have raced, well if you want to call it a race since I never finished anywhere close to him.

Nobody has dominated? I'd say Tolleson in the USA and Gray both usa and internationally have dominated. Miller has also won some big 50s. Jim hasn't beaten either of these guys. An fkt doesn't make someone great, racing does ay?!

How much you wanna bet the guy in the post I'm responding to is Jim's girlfriend/boyfriend aka Myke Hermsmeyer? I mean Jim rose to popularity all due to a guy holding a camera and following him around. I remember the days where actual accomplishments against competition made you popular. My have times changed

Exactly. Myke just posted on Facebook about Jim's dinky wins this year. Until Jim beats legit domestic or international competition in head-to-head competition he's a solo time trialist. We're not falling for the facade, Myke.

Jim beat Tim Tollefsen, Max King, and Rob Krar, at the 2015 Lake Sonoma 50 mile endurance run. That was head to head racing!Unfortunately he finished behind Alex Varner, Ryan Bak and 18 yr old kid Jared Hazen who all ran considerably faster than him in that race. He came out this year with redemption and ran a new CR and a PB by over 40 minutes. This is 10 minutes faster than the likes of Rob or Zach Miller.

Western States was a huge success for Walmsley, as he nailed a six figure deal from HOKA and has great income from several supporting sponsors. Dude has it set for the next few years if he continues to perform.

Exactly. Jim was crushing the likes of Canaday and Laney at Western States. He was 40 minutes faster than anyone ever in the history of the race at the river at mile 78 and was well on pace to shatter the CR.

Good thing we've got "dbowie" and "Truthser" on the case to expose the photographer's conspiracy of trying to trick us into thinking that Walmsley is more than a fast guy who runs in scenic places. Well done fellas, well done.

Best thing about Walms is that he consistently crushing all the road whore pros in Flag in workout sessions and long runs. Taking it to all those Rosario and McMillan guys, they can't hang with him on long runs, tempos, etc. Check out Strava.

I have never seen a pro or elite runner at any event with such a slow stride rate. He routinely only takes 150 to 160 steps per minute. These other road pros are like 180 steps per minute.

I timed Filbert Bayi at 160 spm running 6 minute pace after his 3:53 mile in Jamaica, and obtained similar results for other elite runners at that pace.

Stride rate is highly dependent on pace. The faster the pace, the higher the rate.

It would be unusual for any top runner to take 180 spm at a 6 to 7 minute mile pace. Hobby joggers yes, but they won't be running much faster then that.

Tell that to all the pro road runners in Flagstaff. At 6:00 per mile pace a 2:15-2:10 marathoner more likely than not is going to have a cadence of at least around or above 170; Racing a 5:00 per mile pace and they are likely close to 180spm.
