On the other side of the coin, do we want coaches/parents taking pictures of opposing teams, asking officials for post race DQ's for various infractions? No way.

It happens internationally. As a relay team coach for a multisport games last year I had every exchange video'd by someone. Didn't need any of them, but was prepared.

Here was the reply from UHSAA. I want to point out that even UHSAA admits the call was in error, "The umpire clearly made an error."

If there was a wrong call being made, then obviously it should be overturned. It's a broken system if that is not the case. A photograph will be able to better judge if an athlete was in the exchange zone than an official would, so why not use it? That's like the NBA or NFL not having video review. Unless they want to install official cameras at each exchange zone, then they have to accept outside evidence, as they have none of their own.

Happened to us a few years ago. Our girl was leading and second place moves up on the last turn, cuts in too soon trying to get to the rail and ran into her pushing her off the track. She took one step inside the line. She was forced to a near complete stop after nearly falling, recovered and passed the runner about 100 meters later near the finish.

She was DQd for stepping in the track.

I protested due to the following:

1. It was not three consecutive steps (NFHS rules).

I was told "the judge doesn't know how many steps it was but says it was more than three).

2. She was forced off the track.

I was told she was bumped but the official did not want to DQ the other runner.

We had video she was forced off and did not take three consecutive steps. NFHS rules prohibit and video or photographic evidence that is not by an official.

Don't know why, seems like a stupid rule that need to change. Why would you not want to get the call right?

While the DQ appears to be an obvious incorrect call and a terrible setback for your relay team, an even more egregious error would be to go against the NFHS Rule Book and overturn the call. Your attempts to lobby support to get the UHSAA to overturn the ruling should stop. If anything, these attempts may show your own lack of understanding of the current rules governing the sport. There is a situation in the NFHS Case Book that should have put a stop to your plea before it started. Refer to page 13, 3.2.7 situation, of the 2016 Track and Field and Cross Country Case Book.

I don't care about the photo. Race admin admits the call was wrong ,with or without it. It is indecent not to change the results based on that admission. If they remained in denial of a bad call end of story based on the rules.

I don't know a single appellate judge who would agree with that statement. (It would not shock me, however, if you could find a few in Alabama.)

The NFL and NBA always accepted photographs and videos from the fans prior to installing their own video systems.

Photos lie.

My HS track coach had a picture on the board of a "perfectly executed" Bud Winters Jet Sprint Relay Pass showing me receiving the stick from our pole vaulter.

Since I'm in the picture I know the truth.

The picture was taken at a triangular meet and is of a cobbled together 4x220 team. I started and passed to our pole vaulter and he passed to a two miler who then passed to a shotputter and earned us one point. A valuable point because we won the meet by one point.

The PVer is actually taking the pass from me when my stick hand is behind my body. He was caught flatfooted and I sped passed him.

It does look like a perfect pass if you don't know the story behind the picture.

Without a doubt pictures do not always tell a correct version of the events.

Mike Brady made a few phone calls and it was resolved.

He was an architect I believe.

I think he called the head coach of the other team (westside) showed him the picture/s and the coach admitted it .

Maybe you call the other coach ...
