This afternoon there was a teleconference for the media with Donavan Brazier. We'll have a piece up on it later but wanted to share one of the most interesting things we learned from it. While Brazier's recent 1:45.93 clocking in the 800 may have stunned most fans, it may not have stunned you if you knew what he did in practice. It was said on the call today that Brazier ran a 1:14.98 600 on the outdoor track in November. According to letsrun.com stat/coaching guru John Kellogg, a 1:14.98 600 is equivalent to a 1:45.72 800. We'll have more on what we learned from talking to Brazier later today or early tomorrow.

When he runs sub 1:43, then grab yourself a beer and start to get a little excited. An almost 1:46 800m runner is just nothing special. Training sessions are great for internal confidence but mean jack in a race.
Sure, he is youngish and has potential but stats tell us that most never achieve their potential for so many reasons.

The only runners to have gone faster at his age have OG/WC hardware. No exceptions. Got it.
