Go read your original post. It was choppy sentenced, nonsensical babbling. You weren't contributing to the discussion at all going on about her being a mother and dealing with stress and life blah freaking blah. That's all good and impressive and great for a profile piece, but nothing to do with this discussion. You even brought up Luke Puskedra at the end for no reason at all.
My insane accusations? First, I didn't start the thread and never made any accusations, but rather discussed the "if this, then..." possibilities.
What does who I am and how fast I've run have to do with whether Deena Kastor had pacers at the 2015 Chicago Marathon? I wasn't playing "tough guy"? WTF does that even mean? I was having a discussion of facts ... a discussion I would have no problem having with anyone in public.
For the record, I'm faster than Deena is, but considering she's a 42-year-old woman and she'd smoke me at many distances in her prime, I'm not going to pretend like that is something to be proud of. However, whatever my lack luster running credentials may be, I clearly know the sport than you do.

That's not contradictory.Chicago (Pinkowski) didn't organize pacers, and didn't want to for the sake of a better race. They also didn't forbid any runners to bring their own. There would be nothing wrong with Kastor or Chumba using their own pacers, regardless of what the organizers specifically stated or wanted, unless you can show me the rule they created...

This is false. Carey Pinkowski specifically stated that they wanted an un-paced race. It isn't that Chicago (an event with millions of dollars at its disposal) all of a sudden got too cheap to pay pacers. It wasn't a BYOP (Bring Your Own Pacer) type of deal.

I don't see anything shady about it. You've had to have had runners in front of you at one point, as we all have. I don't think she had any unfair advantage...why didn't the others run up with her and just stay on her tail...because they couldn't. Sorry, she earned that run.

Chicago was not supposed to have pacers, but Deena had a group of about 6-8 guys around her at half way, that she was tucked in behind.
At roughly 20 miles she had about 4-5 guys who she was tucked behind.
These guys were not strung out, but rather tightly packed in order to block any wind.
This could be just coincidence, but it seems highly unlikely considering Deena has had many marathons with a multitude of pacers and by the pure evidence of the race.
Another big reason this is shady is because she stated in the press conference that she was on board with making the race more pure by not having pacers.
On a side note Alexi Pappas, dropped out exactly at half marathon? Was she pacing or something? I don't believe she was listed as an elite participant that was planning on finishing.
I'm not against pacers. I actually think it makes the races better, but if everyone else isn't allowed a pacer but Deena has them, that's an unfair advantage to other female athletes. And is it allowed to be considered an American Masters Record if it is paced?
If you do your homework it's not that hard to know that Pappas was originally hired as a pacer (just like last year), but when the race announced that there would be no pacing she was asked to attend anyway as an appearance. The race was sponsored by Nike and she was at the expo doing promotions and talks. She ran the first half as a workout hoping to learn more about the marathon as she will most likely debut after the Olympics. No one has a pacer run behind them. She just blogged about being in awe of Deena and was most likely learning from the best in the business. Obviously Deena was not paced, but running with sub-elite men. That is the benefit of mass starts for the elite women It happens in every race.

To say it is ridiculous to make that accusation against Deena just makes it seem as if you were starstruck with Deena and therefore feel obligated to defend her. Not saying that's the case, but when you say it is ridiculous that I came to that conclusion, it makes it seem like something else is a barrier to your logic. Like I said in my original post, it very well could have been coincidence, but when you have Pappas, and a slew of guys around Deena when other racers were either not fortunate enough to have found a pack like that or not fortunate enough to have that for as long as Deena did, makes the people around her seem suspect. I hope you understand that. But that's why I didn't say it was certain in my post, just suspect. But, thanks for correcting me on your involvement.
