As someone who's been called an apologist for Alberto, even I'm more than a little concerned about the length of time that has passed. My concern was always to consider any alternative explanations for the accusations (and for some there could be legitimate ones) and listen to Alberto's defense. That way, there is no way I'll feel like I jumped to a conclusion without all the available information.
However, at this point, Salazar and Rupp are either getting bad PR advice or are realizing they can't provide legitimate information. The window of reasonableness on the timing front seems to be closing. Guilty or innocent, it just looks like they're hiding at this point.
If I was Salazar, I would have wanted to do everything I could to get my side of the case out before USAs, so athletes, and especially Rupp, don't get thrown to the lions without any backing. Maybe, he's going to release something soon; maybe there is nothing legitimate to release. Either way, an update of some kind seems warranted.
