It wouldn't make any sense to say, "runners like Rupp, except for Rupp himself, are making the track 10k dead."

He is incredibly boring. Was running in Denver once and he was up running loops around the park I was at. Turned around to chat him up and he had absolutely zero personality, no more than 5 word responses when I would ask him questions, completely monotone. Didn't really like him to start but that definitely solidified it.
His wife was running though and she looked pretty hot.

But I'll give you this: Nike are putting a higher procentage of their resources into ultras and will continue to do so, they even have their own ultra team now. The 10000 is almost dead. The Diamond League is more or less a flop. Track and Field in general is constantly tainted by doping scandals. As a televised sport it sucks. Even the European public is starting to loose interest. The ultra scene on the other hand is still growing. And marketingwise it's a dream. Nike is also about clothes, gagets and apparel and the ultra scene has this "lifestyle aura". Not to mention ultra runners wear down more shoes etc. No major doping scandals (yet). The fans has already embraced internet reporting for major events, while T&F still has to rely on old fashioned television (which as mentioned above - pretty much suck by modern demands on action). Also, ultra results' list usually list athletes by Shoe Brand, not nationality, so another bonus for the biggest brand globally.

Again, in and of itself its not a bad question. Just odd that its being asked so early in the year. At least give it to the end of the month of April.
It kind of reminds me of when I used to listen to NBA discussion in the years of Jordan's prime. The Bulls would be something like 4-5 early in the season and everybody would wonder what is wrong with Bulls. It was absurd.
I watched Rupp and Levins do a 6 mile tempo starting at 4:40 and cut down to 4:20s followed by some speed about a week ago. Salazar was there and everything seemed fine.
Boy, you really have to read through a lot of junk to get to some information on the message board. At least one guy said he saw a workout. I thought someone might have a link to an article describing his plans.
Instead, I get guys recirculating the same pictures, conspiracy theories and complaints.
