Flotrack Beer Mile Event in Austin - Moved

My ass it's certified! lol what a $hit show! Good job flotrack! I really hope letsrun writes up an article on this anmature hour shenanigans!!!!

I can't believe they had the balls to take shots at Nielsen while going behind the back of the SF group and then putting on a two-bit event.

I interned/worked for Flotrack for several years and this is just so typical. I really not surprised.

Hey I'm with you but the thing was never 'official' to begin with. There is no such thing as an official beer mile. It's good it's not at a track though and official as they have a huge 'incentive' to create a WR. Everyone there is incentivized to cheat (not drink a full beer, run less than a full mile) to make sure they 'get the WR' since they don't have the WR holder at their event.

So hopefully their bogus WR won't be accepted.

In the end, flotrack tried to steal this event from the WR holder and got what they deserve.

2. Its a 150m straight with a 50m or less turn.

The wording on beermile.com changed....

If you look at this:

Original Beer Mile.com Rules stated that the race had to be run on a 400m track. They changed the website today..to change the wording to add the word "ideally"....

This keeps getting better....

New Beer Mile.com Rules:

A couple of questions for the guys that are Race Directors:

1) Would you host an event without insurance?

2) What company would provide coverage for this?

Seems like a huge risk.

It's GD pathetic that they are so inept at putting on this event that they had to get the beermile.com people to change the official rules wording on their website. Do you not believe that to be pathetic?

people keep saying this shouldnt count for records now, but who cares if its road or track as long as its a true mile?

say somebody runs 4:50 today. it wouldnt be fair to that athlete to not get the WR just because he ran on carpet instead of rubber.

regarding the chance of rules on the website...yeah thats BS but the creator of that website is present at the event and i suppose he can do whatever he wants.

If the California group wants to host theirs at AT&T Park, then Beer Mile had better accept non-track miles regardless. Sounds like schools won't dare host a "beer event" on their track.

Don't believe everything you read from BroJo forum posts.

Contrary to posts in this thread, they did reserve the venue. They were overruled by community complaints last minute.

Like it really matters whether a beer mile is "certified."
