Shannon comes off as a no personality bore. she is the female version of Leo Manzano. All the talent, yet so unmarketable.

I disagree completely. I think Leo has tons of personality.
And talent.
And I think it is rather mean spirited to say people have "no personality" or comes off as a "bore." Really what do you base this on? A few Flotrack videos?

Both are hard working athletes. However even though Shannon is in good shape she is not in the same class as Jenny. Sorry this is a fact. Yes she gave her a run for her money in the last race but this is an anomaly.
Jenny is world class and Shannon is an elite U.S. athlete.
Jenny as the announcer loves to say is a "racer." She has the mindset of a champ and is completely in another league.
Don't disagree that Jenny is world class. But it Shannon who has moved up. The Salazar training is starting to pay off. She's getting better. That's what makes this burgeoning rivalry so interesting.

Looks like they both are racing the 3k in Brussles. Will both actually make it to the starting line, or will one bow out?
Given that you can't settle on a spelling of "Brussels" you're either an idiot or a troll. I'll go with "idiot," since no wise person would ask if someone who's on a start list doesn't actually intend to race there.

There's always theatrics with her. She's good. Real good. But let's be honest, she doesn't seem very likeable. Neither does Shannon fwiw
Seriously, your wife's comment is illustrative of the problem with a lot of women. She's never met Jenny, and by your own admission "knowing nothing else" and she says that about someone?? Really??
P.S. I'm a woman. It's not fun being lumped in with cattiness like that.

Here's something most people don't have to be told but will surely come as a revelation to you: Having a shoe contract with the same company as someone else doesn't make that person your teammate. Please repeat that to yourself at least 55 times or until you get it, whichever comes last.

Yes. And all of these dimwits who have never met Shannon say untrue and nasty things about her on these boards. It's a cesspool of fun for the mcnasties of the letsrun community.

You are an imbecile. They refer to each other as teammates. I'm going to do the same.

Haha I guess by this persons logic Galen Rupp and Chris Solinsky we're the best of friends after the 2010 Payton Jordan 10k, and they just went home all buddy, pals, and good ole teammates cause they were both sponsored by Nike!

No they don't. Prove it. And I don't mean as in, United States national or Olympic team, I mean New Balance.
This of course is an oblique way of pointing out that those who think there's some kind of secret bad blood going on between those three should stick to the magazines you can read while you're waiting for the cashier to ring up your Cheez Whiz and Krispy Kremes.
I think Jenny's teammates include Emma Coburn, Kara, Shalaya Kipp. Not Brenda Martinez.
And to the guy who said his wife watched Jenny S race and determined she was a (fill in the blank). I am so sorry for you that your wife if so small-minded, judgmental and full of assumptions. Must be a hard way to live. And must really be a joy to live with such a person.

Lol. Jenny's steeple 3k is probably faster than Shannon's 3k time.
And Jenny doesn't care about the 5k at this point. Why should she when she is competing at a world class level in the 1500.
I stand by my assertion that Jenny is in a completely different class than Shannon.
And to the guy who says he expects Shannon to put up some big results "soon" . . . I certainly hope you have some 02 on standby for the length of time that it will be necessary to hold your breath for that one.
How hypocritical. You criticize the poster for his wife's comments about Jenny, yet earlier in this thread you insult Shannon
If you're going to play it both ways you may want to use your alter ego user name.

Don't worry about him. If his wife actually existed, yes, she'd be a nasty-ass ThunderÇunt™ in the extreme, and a hairy, wide-bodied, big-bellied fart-machine on top of that. But she doesn't, so he's fine.
A lot of stupid comments on here as usual.
Watched the race ten time no foul, is what it was.
Who cares if they are buddies. In the old days no one cared about that stuff.

Rowbury ran 8:34 last year. Simpson was not threatening the 9 min barrier in her time as a steepler.

More importantly, she's the best in the US at the 3k. #2 All time. To say Rowbury couldn't beat Simpson's steeple time in a flat 3k is just plain uninformed and makes the poster look foolish.
I agree that it is likely that Jenny will be flat in the 3000, after having won DL for 1500.
Comparing lifetime/season bests between Jenny and Shannon and the likelihood that Jenny will be flat I would say that Shannon has the decided edge.

In the end, this supposed rivalry will not be seen if they are not at the front of the pack. The camera focuses on the lead pack, and everyone else is ignored.
Go watch some of their interviews on flotrack. Shannon is genuine, witty, and down to earth. Jenny is a holier than thou snob.
What a douche you must be.
