Once some people from my team (all young girls) were running along side my creepy-looking coach in his car and they had at least 2 people stop to ask if this guy was stalking them.
But for me:
A kid kept on screaming "America! America!" when we (my team) were
running.
An obese guy was smoking a cigarette and said to us, "Never do this [the cigarette] or you will not be able to do what you're doing now!"
I've also had little kids ask if I'm anorexic (and I'm a guy)

"Dang, nice pace!". I was doing a mile, pushups, then another mile in 6th grade... The mile I was on was around 6:45 pace... I don't get a lot of compliments down here in Texas.
In high school, kicking down the home stretch of an 800, and the announcer saying, "Here comes XXXX --he's runnin' like a scalded cat!" It was a small town school and the announcer was a "Gee whiz Aww shucks" kind of guy. For awhile my teammates called me "Cat." That was about the nicest thing anyone ever said about my running.
Was running 1000 repeats in my neighborhood a few weeks ago at ~3:00-3:05 pace and a lady I didn't know said, "You look like you're running away from a fire! Why are you going so fast?"

I was waiting for a buddy of mine to do a road bike ride when he called and said he would be 20 minutes late. I was already kitted up in my cycling garb and didn't know what to do for the next 20 minutes. I had to return a DVD rental and I am about a mile from the store, so I decided to grab the DVD and run down to drop it off.
On the way down I passed a half dozen high school teenagers (boys and girls) hanging out and clearly bored. When I ran by they were all silent and just gawked at me. I did look pretty stupid running in my padded lycra shorts and team jersey.
On the way back, a girl sitting on a retaining wall with a guy said, "you look disgusting in those shorts." Of course, I was waiting for something to come from these punks, so I was more prepared than normal. I turned and said, "not as disgusting as you would look in these shorts."
I guess the guy must have been her boyfriend because he stood up and started chasing me. I have never had so much fun running about 20 feet in front of a guy while turning around laughing. It didn't hurt that it is a slight uphill grade back to my place and he stopped once and then started again!
It has got to be an all time runner fantasy to be able to outrun a guy trying to "beat you up." Of course, I am a runner and a wimp at heart, so I made sure not to run directly home in case they could see where I live!
Preseason morning run with my college team... "Look at all these nekkid boys!!" hahaha

Back when i was living in Queens about 5 years ago there were 2 girls at a bus stop as im running down the block i hear, "i like the way you run," followed by "hey, come pick us up."
I kept on running then about 10 minutes later i realized what had happened and started kicking myself this type of stuff always goes right over my head.
"Nice Man Boobs" from a group of Boy Scouts out on a bike ride.
I'm 6 feet tall, weigh about 160. I had no idea I had man boobs.
Didn't hear this myself, a teammate told me about it after.
Black girl sitting near my team- "Damn, look at the the thigh muscles on that white guy. He white, but he running like he black!"
The only time in my life that anyone's ever said that I was black in any way.
some guy asked a group of me and my friends if we had any pot. Funny enough, we did. HAHAHAHAHA
At high school state meet in track all the sprinters were watching as i kicked my last 200 in the mile and when i finished i heard: "Damn, I guess dem' white boys can run fast."
to which the other replied:
"Faster dan' a coke zero"
To this day I cannot figure out what the f*ck that meant.
unseasonably warm day a few months ago, angry looking ~6-4 250lb black dude with dreads was jogging around the track in full sweats and had on mma-type fighting gloves, looked like he was out there doing cardio trying to cut some weight or something.
after warm-up + drills/strides, i stripped down to short black split shorts only for a 8x400 workout. he came jogging by, stops,smiles, and goes "damn dude, you've got an amazing body!!! do you work out a lot???"
i almost cracked up laughing. sadly an injury took me out soon after, so after a month off and ~10lbs of weight gan, i doubt he would find my body so amazing anymore:( i'm gonna go sulk & drink some beer while watching the NBA playoffs now...
Never been a great runner, not ripped or real toned. But the best comment I got was from my coaches wife.
We were doing a race simulator workout with a hard 800 at the end. After it we were all kinda standing around in shorts talking about the workout.
A few days later my coach goes, "hey buddy, my wife said something nice about you the other day. She said you're really looking like a runner this year."
I had just come off the highest mileage summer i'd ever had so this was by far the best comment i've ever gotten.
#2 would be, "you know he's not the greatest runner or athlete but damn, he can make a race" I think this was referring to my front running, i am not a fan of races going out slow.

In all seriousness, a few years back while on vacation, I was running along the beach front of Fort Lauderdale and some guy/homeless maybe? kept clapping/cheering me on every time I passed him. I was trying to get in a 9miler that morning and had to run up and back a few times. Thought it was kind of funny.

I was finishing striders the day prior to a me in our field house and after I finished and was heading out the door two middle-aged ladies said:
"We were watching you and were wishing we could burn calories just from watching you run."
Sure, sure. I'll take it I guess.
last summer:
