What are the 800m and 2mile equivalents of a Sub-4-Mile?

In terms of "impressiveness" or "fitness equivalence" or what ever you want to call it, what is the 800 and 2 mile version of a 4 minute mile? My guesses would have to be 8:40.0 and 1:48.00. I'm probably wrong but I think only 4 American high schoolers have gone under 8:40 and only 5 American high schoolers have gone under 1:48.

what calculations? 3:59.4 was run in 1955, and 1:46 was run in 1939. In the real world. The only calculation there is that 1:46 happened over 25 years earlier and is two seconds faster than 1:48. If IAAF says the equivalent is 1:48, then IAAF is full of shit. How many times do you see a 1:48 and think, wow, a 1:48! Look, that race had 4 or 5 guys under 1:49! Ridiculous.

Go bother Ventolin three if you're gonna whine about calculations. And think up better insults, you weakling.

The 800m and Mile times are close to their limits therefore this formula will get you close

800m WR/Mile WR = 800 Equivalent/4m Mile

100.91/223.13 = 800m Equivalent/240

800m Equivalent = 1m48.51

I'd say that 1:50 and 9:00 are for high schoolers.

Yes, 9:00 is significantly worse than 4:00, but it's a nice round number that people think of and remember. Nobody creates a list of (I'm picking a random fast time) 8:53.72 or faster high schoolers, but there are sub 9 lists

9min is wayyy too soft for a 2mi time relative to a sub 4mi. Needs to be like 8:50. There are dudes who can’t break 4:15 in the mile that have broken 9min for 2mi.
