Galen Rupp is the man to watch out for in this race. Year after year Alberto has peaked Galen at precisely the right moment. Sophomore year he ran around 16:40 for most of the season and then busted a 15:48 on an extremely challenging state course. I don?t think people realize just how challenging the Oregon state course is. Ian Dobson who placed 3rd at Footlocker in ?99 won on that course in 15:50. This year Galen and Lauren Jesperson ran almost a minute faster! Galen is improving rapidly. He went from a 9:07 3k his freshman year to a 15:48 his sophomore XC season and then ran 14:34 on the track last spring. Watch out.
And also, the rumor of him housing with the Oregon project is not true.
