I "ran" the same 1500M as Spivey at North Central College. Also,spoke with him at CARA awards dinner and told him how happy we were that he won the Olympic trials race. Jim commented on the fact that multiple people told him that ought they were happy he won the olympic trials. Ran a few distance runs with Tom Graves when I was a senior in high school. Tom was a gentleman and a fierce competitor. if only he had stayed healthy...

I think you underestimate the runner-nerdness of some Letsrun posters. Obviously there are plenty of 1:46 and 2:15 guys that I've never heard of (i.e. from different places or from more than a few decades ago). But honestly, my guess is that I'd recognize the names of 90% or more of the 2:15 or 1:46 guys from North America in the past two decades. And I'm sure there are other posters who have the same level of obsession or worse. :)
I'm not trying to pressure you into saying who they were -- you're welcome to your privacy! Just saying that 1:46 and 2:15 is quick enough that people notice.

When you say "worked with" I'm assuming you mean at a normal non-running job... Because I've met, run with, and hosted Kenyans, US olympians, etc.
My answer: Ernie Reith = still has UCSB 3000M school record 8:13.1 from ~1981.
I use the term "worked out with" loosely here, but I've run with Brian Sell on many instances, as well as the other guys on the Hansons team. Mind you, it was generally during their first few miles on their warm-up before they picked up the pace and dropped me.
