It is very difficult to believe Lance never cheated, especially in his first TDF coming off of cancer treatment. There is a common belief that he used prior to his first TDF supposedly as part of his medical treatment to rebuild muscle and increase cardio. He was not being testing during this time becasue he was 'inactive'. With that said, just about all of the top tour athletes were using in the late 90s, which indicates he was still an incredible athlete to be the best of dopers.
It is had to believe Lance was using in his last couple of TDFs becasue there was an all out effert to bust him. He was tested more frequently than a lab rat, people wen't through his garbage, interviewed all sorts of people who came in contact with him, etc. In fact, Lance invited the scrunity. I suspect there are riders who know he used at some point in the late 90s and becasue of that assume he was always using.- Lance ran a respectable marathon at 185 pounds, with no proper training and horribe looking form...this indicates he has an exceptional natural cardio system...unless you think he was stupid enough to dope at the NYCM.
I was living in Boulder during the year Lance was diagnosed with Testicular cancer. I remember one ride where a former pro cyclist was saying that Lance was on enough stuff to kill a horse, three weeks later he was diagnosed, no coincidence. Then over the next three weeks alot of the Boulder pro's were showing up for rides with little issues that came up during recent DR. visits, seems like they all decided they better go get checked out at that time just in case what they were doing might put them at risk, no coincidence there either.
And Lance not testing positive during his later Tour's means nothing, there are lot's of designer drugs out there that are still undetectible and more being developed all the time. Back in the day they were saying you could go to any college chem lab and for $1000 you could have a new synthetic HGH formulated, not sure if it is that easy, but it is being done easier than most think.
