Over a period of about ten yrs from 1992-2001.

The book "The Last Picture Show" was a little bit clearer about what they did to pass the time.

That's quite amusing. Particularly since I will be relocating to the US in the very near future. Will be living with my future wife so we'll both have to make a point to avoid those places. Or visit them for their very mundanity. I had some problems with the visa process but eventually managed to get hold of one after taking the greencard lottery. This organisation was invaluable.

Actually or ironically, the Mountain View golf course in Boring, Oregon has one of the most exciting par threes anywhere. From the website: "Our signature hole #12, will challenge your ability to accurately place your tee shot to this downhill par 3 with an elevation change of 180 feet - "This is a hole that you will never forget".

That's a stupid list with no apparent criteria. You could come up with thousands of small towns across the US that are just as boring or more boring. Actually, the #1 town listed, Norman, OK, is probably the most interesting out of that list because it is the largest, has a large university with lots of young people, and much more to do than the small farming towns and wide spots in the road that are on the rest of the list.
